"I've lived in darkness a long time. Over the years my eyes adjusted, until the dark became my world and I could see."
Meaning of (name): From the Hebrew name רָפָאֵל (Rafa'el) which meant "God has healed". In Hebrew tradition Raphael was the name of one of the seven archangels.
Temper: Discordant (disagreeing or incongruous) Breed: Kirin Kalona Cery Breed Appearance: Kirin Cery Height: 14.2 Hands Personality:
Raphael is a meek soul. He has a voice that talks to him just like his father, but unlike his father's evil voices--his unnamed voice is that of a friend, a conscious. He is happy-go-lucky kind of stallion, content to let his sister lead.
Ves'tacha, his mother, has taught them the ways and words of the Romani and has inspired in them a bit of wanderlust. However, the need for flesh and blood was received from his father who taught him how to hunt at an early age.
He suffers from photo-sensitivity (inherited from the grandmother he doesn't know) and wanders around with his eyes closed, his sense of smell far superior to most beings. He thirsts for blood and craves flesh like his father's side. Gentle in nature, he only kills small creatures (not bunnies) when necessary to feed and he makes sure they are not sentient.
He is compassionate, and faithful to a fault. What he loves, he loves with all that he is.
Quirks/Character Traits: ✶ Suffers from photo-sensitivy, an extreme aversion to bright lights. It's an inherited trait. ✶ Craves not only blood, but flesh. Will not kill bunnies. ✶ Most of the time he relies on his other senses, not his eyes. He only full opens them for extended peroids, at night. ✶ Knows some Romani, is a wanderer ✶ Fell for Ethanol almost instantly ✶ So far, they have a family of minis. ✶ He calls Ethanol Miro ilo drita (my heart's light)
Backstory:
Raphael was born to Ves'tacha, a Romani, and Lucian, a member of the Cleaver/Sinclair family. His parents had been wandering about together, when they decided to give their love a try. Born of the twisted tunnel, Raphael and his sister Rinikini were blessed with a few oddities. His parents romantic involvement ended, but the desire for family closeness kept them all together.

exclaimStats and bonus stats have been added for the month of October! exclaim If you see any errors, would like to know why you did not receive stats, or have any stat related questions please PM Nisshou H.
We had a little group of soquili max out their stats this month. Good job Avia, Agave Noctis, Nitor Eventide, Nymphalidae, Raphael, Delnar, Azkadellia and Zevach!
Now for a little reminder because it is becoming more common- When you roll your stats please remember that it is always to be a number between 4 and 12. It cannot be anything higher or lower as a base stat. I have been fixing the ones that I have caught but please take more care in the future!
The Continuing Story...
Though their parentss love didn't work out, Raphael and Rinikini remained close with both parents. The two raised their children in the ways of their mother, a Romani with some of Karloff's teaching who raised Lucian.
He enjoys a close relationship with his sister. He calls her by the pet name Rini, and he allows her to dote on him and "protect him". She has feelings that give her some bad forewarning of the future and she is afraid for him because of his diminished vision in sunlight--genetic from his unknown grandmother (Jessamine) called photosynthesis. who is tortured by visions of terrible things.Raphael hears a voice, but unlike his father's two voices--his unnamed one is kind and compassionate, a best friend and confidant.
His craving for blood and flesh inherited from his father; at an early age he learned to hunt. During one of his solo hunting forays as an adult, he has a chance encounter with the mare Ethanol. The two fall in love with each other immediately, and never question it.
They have now adopted two minis as their own children.
Dead This is....different! (with Rinkini , owned by Syaoran Puu (and LydiaLynn ) Oh Boy! (with Brackenhide and Recovery, owned by Darkmoon Dancer and Aquitane, owned by She-Ra of Etheria)
Zuhno is sweet and kind. She along with Raphael's unnamed imaginary friend (who he deems his conscious) are responsible for Raphael's well being. She takes a special pride in that he has no "dark passengers" like his father (something she accredits to her and his "friend's" influence).
She loves pearls and feathers and often bring Raphael and his family little decorations for themselves or their blades.
Araucaria is a bit of a lost soul. He blames himself for the death of his family, even though it's not his fault. He is haunted by their memories, and like ghosts they follow him wherever he goes.
He is prone to loneliness and bouts of depression. He's happiest when he's traveling and wandering far, far from the burnt woods that were once his home.
Serious in nature, he is shy and a bit naive.
Quirks/Character Traits: ✶ Suffers from the "first to fail" issue of being a first born. ✶ Believes himself to be responsible for his families death, or at least that he should have died with them. ✶ Hates fire.
Afzelia and Alder knew each other from the time they left their baskets. It was an easy and happy life that lead up to agreeing that they could never live without each other. It wasn’t long before the first baskets arrived, or well…the first basket.
After a long and difficult labor, only one basket ever opened and they welcomed their first and only child, a son—Araucaria. He was the light of their life, and afraid to try again they let him carry all their hopes, admirations and dreams. It was too much for Araucaria who deemed himself “first to fail”.
He left shortly after his siblings were born, identical twins---Acacia and her brother Aspen. The two were inseparable, they did everything together and their thoughts were always perfectly in sync.
Araucaria traveled the woodlands, but he felt an ache in his heart for the family he left behind. Deciding to return and make amends, he found the woods he grew up in were nothing but ashes.
Never knowing of his youngest set of siblings, he believes that his mother and father along with Aspen and Acacia are all dead. He feels that it's his fault for not apologizing sooner, that the harsh words he spoke when he left were somehow a curse on his family.
He struggles daily to deal with the guilt. .

Stats
exclaimStats and bonus stats have been added for the month of July! exclaim If you see any errors, would like to know why you did not receive stats, or have any stat related questions please PM Nisshou H.
As you all are probably aware by now we set and met a goal of getting 500 soquili RPed for starts in July. Well I'm here to tell you that we actually made it to 561 soquili. (Which is partially why I'm so tired right now.) So well done!
It should come as no surprise to anyone that such a lofty target would end up with more than a few faces maxed out. So let's have a round of applause for Sheria, Farsiris, Paramekia, Bailey, Musso Koroni, Amira, Yseult, Araycaria, Johanna Mason, Lament, Chane, Mahdi, Hinote, Kadira Nym, Kreyate, Nyamuragira, Gaston, Sunset's Coda, Guinevere and Raven!
Also (at the request of the owner) Tefla's Echo's Song maxed out a couple years ago (before I took over) and was not included in the post of maxed out soquili. So a very belated congratulations to Echo's Song!
Henry has a problem, a big problem. He thinks that he's a soquili trapped in a goat's body and that he needs to be broken free. Obviously, he's delusional--Araucaria has long known that, but he cant' seem to make the little goat go away. Probably because they're the only friend each other has.

Fractured. Broken. Bitter. Terrified of the memories that are flooding back, she wonders often if she is insane. Is any of this true? How can it be? How can it not?
Quirks/Character Traits: ✶ Cannot reconcile herself with Lydia ✶ Loves flowers, graveyards, and singing. ✶ Is haunted by a tune she can't quite remember or place.
Backstory:
The Legend of the Hanging Tree: A Tale of Lament
There are stories and then there are legends, Lament's tale falls somewhere between them. There have been many stories told of her, and no one, not even herself can say which are true.
However, a stallion named Horus, helped a mare by the name of Grauen Kerze to search for some famed book.
But when Grauen found the book, she found they would not open for her but only Horus.
Horus never told her the truth of the books.
According to him, not only Grauen Kerze, but Lament and many other's stories are written within the pages of the books. Some are under other names, but a careful eye can pick out the details.
How much of that is true, and how much of that is part of his manipulating and sinister character of Horus cannot be said. However, he has taken it upon himself to enlist favours from others, and send them out with the tales in the hopes of drawing the characters ( or more aptly victims) to him. For what is a storyteller without stories or characters?
It is he who enlisted Tethys in a promise to help with her deteriorating eyesight to tell the story of Lydia and Lance.
Here in part lies the tale, he has enlisted her to spread.
Lydia was young and impressionable when she met Lance—the dark, charming brother of her best friend, Velia. It wasn’t long before the young pair was seeking more and more time alone. They were both daydreaming of a “happily ever after”.
Lance came home, to where Velia and Lydia would be waiting for him. He knew something was wrong as soon as he came upon the place. The usually warm light of their home was dimmed, and as he called out his voice echoed blankly against the wall.
The horror met his eyes when he stepped him, the fresh smell of blood made him wretch. Lydia was bloody and unconscious, but Velia…his only living family, the most tender one he’d ever known was dead. She had been murdered.
Over the next few weeks, Lance, already interested in the darker arts, prepared his sister’s body for re-entry into this world so that she could rejoin them. Lydia healed though she was darker and more sullen—tortured. She would never be the same.
Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where they strung up a man they say murdered three. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
It was over these weeks that they devised their plan of vengeance against three stallions that had attacked Lydia and murdered Velia.
On the darkest of nights, All Hallow’s Eve, Lance and Lydia crept through the dark—stealing into the homes of the three stallions and releasing their cursed souls from the homes of their body in bloody and cruel ways. The sounds of the stallions screams were just dying out when Lance and Lydia made it home.
The cave walls reflecting the soft candlelight, as Lydia went outside to gather more wood. Lance began the ceremony, calling forth his sister from death to rejoin the living. Her lid twitched, just as they invaded his cave.
Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where the dead man called out for his love to flee. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
There had been witnesses who had seen Lance making his way back to the cave, and they had come to take him. It did not matter that he had done this of vengeance for his sister. Lydia came running as she heard the scuffle, but Lance yelled for her to flee.
That night they hung him. Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where I told you to run so we’d both be free. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Lydia sobbed long into the night. She did not know the way of the dark arts, so there was no way she could bring either Lance or Velia back. She was destined to a life without them. The thought was simply unbearable. She would find her freedom with him then.
Are you, are you Coming to the tree Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Going back to their abandoned home, she picked up the wilted bouquet for the wedding they had never been able to have. Placing the veil over her hair, she made her way slowly back to him like the sound of a funeral march.
***
It was in the dawn that they discovered Lydia hanging beside Lance.
It is said that some how they made their way back to this world. They are neither alive nor truly dead. Their names forgotten as they wander looking for each other for eternity—known only by the names Voodoo and Lament.
----- Lament has long forgotten her name. Barely alive with a rope around her neck, she was found by Hades. She has no recollection of her past except faint remembrances of a song long since faded away.
Her memory is scattered, she cannot remember what is true and what is dream. Her memories of meeting Hades have melded into memories and dreams of his son Westrion, who is in his likeness.
For the first time in years, she has decided to truly try to learn the past or forget it forever with Westrion's help. It was on this journey, that they fell in love.

Tethys came upon them and told them a tale that made their lives rough. Lament came to believe the tale that Tethys told and felt lost, about who that mare she once was.
High with emotions, she found out soon that she was pregnant. The foals were born, but in the heart of one darkness creeped with an iron idea of how things should be
Lament doesn't know why she called the bird Lance. Something about it tickled her memory, which had always been distant and hazy. Lance never squawked or said one word to her, but he would look with eyes that made her shiver.
It wasn't until she heard that terrible tale of "The Hanging Tree" that she realized who she'd named him after....
