Physical Description:
Blonde-haired, blue-eyed, and 5'7" with all the right curves in all the right places, Faindris is an attractive woman and always happy to use that to her advantage. Her face is marked by a shallow scar across her right cheekbone, but as she's no longer in a trade where appearance is of the utmost importance, she doesn't let it bother her.

Personality:
The ability to read people has been vital to Faindris' success in the progression of her trade(s), assessing everyone from clients as a brothel-worker to marks as a thief to the connections she needs as a fence and smuggler. Just as important is her ability to be flexible, to put on whatever mask will best get the job done, but more often than not she is charming and amiable, though she knows to be careful not be too familiar, as many of the people she deals with value distance and discretion. And secrecy, of course - her living and life depend on it, so she keeps the identities of her sources and connections well-guarded. She does not care to meet a knife in the dark.

Always circumspect and careful, she knows better than to be greedy and reach too far, and while she has chosen a life where there's no one who can truly be trusted, has built herself a reputation as someone who is honest and fair in her dealings and in the cuts she takes. You won't catch Faindris trying to cheat her sources or buyers, because she doesn't. Ever. A few extra marks aren't worth her life or reputation. As for what she does with her marks, she's actually rather frugal, and saves or invests more than she spends. She fully intends to set aside enough for her and Atlykoth to retire young and live well, maybe somewhere like Black Sand...perhaps take an occasional side job here and there so they don't get bored or lose their edge.

Faindris lives in a world where the only people she can fully trust are herself and her dragon, and as a result she has little genuine concern for anyone else. If there isn't benefit in it for her or Atlykoth, whether it be immediate or in the long term, it doesn't interest her.

History:
Born to a brothel worker in Nabol, Faindris was an inconvenience from the beginning, never wanted and yet never discarded, so perhaps her mother bore some marginal affection for her. She didn't get sold into the mines or other servitude, at least, so that was something, but about as charitable or loving as Faidrisine ever got. Naturally, her education was limited, and she spent most of her childhood learning how best to stay out of the way and just generally not to do anything that might get her sent away. As she got older and it became more apparent that she would be as attractive as her mother, she was expected to follow in her footsteps and take up the same work. As she knew no other life, this seemed perfectly acceptable to her, though the idea of working in the same brothel was a bit less palatable, and not only for Faindris; Faidrisine most certainly did not want her twenty-turns-younger daughter as direct competition.

Accordingly, Faindris found herself lodgings and employment on the other side of town, and was soon entertaining clients of her own, but it was hardly lucrative work (for her, anyway - her employer got a significant cut). Dissatisfied, she found her own way to make ends meet when, particularly aggravated by a certain drunken client, she took the opportunity presented by his passed-out stupor and relieved him of some of his gambling winnings: not enough that he was likely to notice, especially given the state he'd been in when he won, but she could use every little extra mark she could get, if she ever wanted out of Nabol. Stealing from clients was risky business, however, and so she improvised by stealing in her off-time. Neither a pickpocket nor a practiced thief, it took her some trial and error, but before long she hit on a workable system of luring the obviously-inebriated into dark places and there relieving them of their valuables. Unfortunately, by the time they were in such a state, they usually didn't have much, which left her looking for an alternative. After asking the right questions of the right people, she eventually found an unscrupulous Apothecary willing to supply her with a fast-acting sleeping draught in return for a cut of the proceeds. It was, again, a rather substantial cut, but still left her with more marks than she'd had to begin with, so it was an acceptable arrangement. Not everyone she robbed had marks on them, but rather other valuable pieces, which left her in the quandary of needing to exchange those for much more useful marks, an endeavour that required getting to know the right people, who was willing to buy what - and more important still, how to deal with them and how to earn their very limited trust, and not put herself in undue danger in the process.

It was a tricky business, but Faindris felt it out, making a mistake here and there but always learning from it, and kept on saving, determined to stash away enough money to get away from Nabol and go somewhere better. There would be more opportunities in Bitra, perhaps...for while she wanted a better life, that didn't necessarily mean an honest one. When she was 19, opportunity did come her way, though not in a form she would ever have suspected: she was Searched to Western Weyr, and while she'd never dreamed of dragons, she latched on to the chance to not only get out, but get out free of charge...and get an education. She could take a turn through Candidacy, and once she'd gotten what she needed out of it, move on to better things. She never actually thought she'd Impress, but two Turns later found herself bonded to white Atlykoth.

While being a dragonrider wasn't a bad life, though, it was boring, and never felt like it was really her life. They made their way through Weyrlinghood and even half a Turn of wingriding, but neither was happy, and so away they went to Bitra to pursue Faindris' earlier plans. At first, she did much the same as she had in Nabol, albeit much more smoothly this time, making the right connections with the right people, greasing palms and earning trust, and in the midst of all of that realized that she was good at it. And in time, word got around, and Faindris' knack for facilitating the movement and trade of stolen goods became far more profitable than doing the stealing herself. Atlykoth's involvement was invaluable, enabling them to move merchandise far from where it had originally been acquired and thereby instantly making it easier to sell.

Outwardly, they present themselves as Traders, and much of what they carry is actually legitimate, lending to a more believable ruse. They see the return of Thread as an inconvenience, more than anything, and thus far have no plans to return to a Weyr, assuring themselves that little white like Atlykoth won't be greatly missed.

Physical Description:
Atlykoth is quite the tiny little fellow, not only lacking in overall length but in stature and build. He is slender and leanly-muscled, built for agility and stealth at the cost of strength and endurance.

Personality:
Atlykoth is an easy dragon to underestimate, and he will readily admit that that's fair: he has no illusions about his strength (or lack thereof) or physical capabilities, and sees no need to posture or bluster in an effort to inflate his image, nor is he jealous of larger dragons. In the extremely unlikely event that he ever got into a fight, he would have to rely on his speed and intelligence to, if not win, at least get him out of it fast. He would rather avoid the need for violence entirely, however, and is adept and charming enough to talk himself out of most trouble he might find himself in, although this is rarely necessary. He is clever, if he does say so himself, and so if he has done something that would get him into trouble - which he certainly never would! - he is usually long gone by the time it comes to light, and far from the likeliest suspect. Surely you don't believe that he, a noble white dragon, would be anything other than honest and true?

Whatever trouble he causes, mischief he makes, or heists or smuggling he aids in, it is rarely malicious or for his own personal gain: he just thinks it's fun. Atlykoth delights in everything about himself, his cleverness and his stealth and his daring, even if very few people will ever know the extent of it. Such is the nature of their business that bragging isn't an option, but at least his rider knows how excellent he is and appreciates all of his finer qualities. Which he reminds her of frequently.
