Physical Description: Ahlalei stands 5’7” with an almost classic hourglass figure only marred by slightly more hip. She has green eyes, pale skin, and blond with the hint of strawberry hair. Her body is slim, her legs are long, and she is almost pure lean muscle from exercise and training.

Personality: She is arrogant and proud with her superiority constantly reinforced by her upbringing before her impression. While her experiences afterwards have lessened this it has most decidedly not gone away. Still, she is loyal once you gain her trust and will follow someone that she believes in to the ends of the world. She is lively and animated, vivacious, in what she does. Even though she is arrogant she is not reserved. The problem is that the liveliness leads to volatility in emotion. They can change in a moment. And she is vengeful. If you wrong her, she will wrong you. It might take a while, vengeance is best served cold, when least expected, and can do most harm.

History: Ahlalei was born the only daughter to a lackey of Lord Gansley. He was a cotholder that discovered a lucrative mine on the land he was caretaking. He didn’t own the land or the mine but Lord Gansley didn’t take the mine away from the easily manipulated man. The lackey was not the most intelligent or clever person but he was rich and good at making money, which Lord Gansley found useful. Easy to manipulate and good for the coffers.

The man was ambitious, even if he went about it in a most obvious way. His main goal with Ahlalei was finding her a beneficial marriage. Well, a beneficial one for him. He didn’t care how it turned out for Ahlalei. So she grew up a pawn with him attempting to control her even decision and movement. Ahlalei at first believed this to be her place in life as much as she didn’t care for it. There was no way out. So she allowed herself to be a pawn.

When she was 16 she was allowed to accompany her father to a Hatching at High Reaches Weyr. This wasn’t to allow her to enjoy herself. She was there to be shown off, decked out in the height of fashion and jewelry galore. It was a bloody hatching and one brown in particular seemed to be having trouble finding his and taking it out on those around him. When one stupid boy tried to stop the brown that boy found himself dead. It was toward the end of the Hatching that the brown approached the stands seemingly to try to enter them and continue his search.

You are not a pawn, Ahlaleimine. Let your Kalikath help you teardown those that try to control you, and build a new game board where we are free to act as we see fit.

The words startled Ahlalei but she understood. However as she moved towards the stairs down her father, reacting in obvious fear (though it was more because he was afraid to lose her than for his professed concern for her safety), cautioned her against approaching. He placed a hand on her arm, holding Ahlalei back when she would go anyway. It was a neighboring dragon rider that interfered to allow her to move. When questioned about it he played it off as worry of a concerned and frightened parent who didn’t understand what was happening. Many did not believe the man but could prove nothing. He was not as trusted afterwards.

Ahlalei was not prepared for weyrlinghood. She had no idea what she was supposed to be doing and relied heavily on Kalikath and the Weyrlingmaster to guide her. She was lost. Her world had been turned upside down. Her father practically disowned her for a while and her brother who was to inherit the cothold played along. Outwardly he shunned Ahlalei, secretly he sent her letters to let her know she wasn’t completely alone. Still, it didn’t do much when her fellow Weyrlings were not used to her and her arrogance caused conflict.

She did watch what was happening around her socially as she had been trained to do. What she observed confused her. Ahlalei began to realize that the way she had been raised, the things that she had been taught about society, and the status quo she was used to, were not the only way of life and in fact not a very good one either. With that realization come the desire to change it. Kalikath wanted to destroy the chains that held so many immediately. But watching others that bucked the status quo be shunned and pushed from the Weyr led to her concern. She had to teach him the patience and need for subtlety she had learned so early on.

It wasn’t the Weyr that she wanted to change. The hierarchy made sense among dragon riders. It was necessary for their survival when Threadfall comes back. But the oppression of Gansley, the mines that she had so blithely accepted as reasonable growing up, and the corruption she saw with new eyes bothered her. Vengeance was called for, but it would be slow in coming. Weyr’s and their riders aren’t supposed to interfere with Holds after all. It didn’t bother Ahlalei or Kalikath that they were not the ones in ultimate control. It suited them in a way and allowed them to maneuver as needed without too much excess scrutiny.

Within the Weyr, Ahlalei grew up both physically and mentally. She became a more integrated part of the society there. Her arrogance never left her completely, only tempered as she learned to control it better.

When Thread returned years later she as truly scared for the first time in a long time. It was good that she had gotten the training she did or she would have probably died the first time she fought it.

Physical Description: Long with a wide wing span but slim in body giving the impression of sleekness.
Personality: Kalikath is a dragon that knows what he wants to see happen. He is loving and nurturing to those he chooses as part of his sphere. But he is cruel and cutting to those that he disapproves of. He does not want to be controlled by those he does not view as worthy, only willing to give the appearance of being controlled while plotting to destroy them. When dark deeds are needed he is willingly do them. Ahlalei and he must triumph over the ignorance and evils in the world. Evils as they define them. When resolve is needed he shows it, when meekness is needed he feigns it. He cares about those that he accepts fully into his life as good and will do what is needed to protect them and help them grow. He will dote on them as well.
