I think the SGC gate is better because when it's dialing the movement (spinning) makes it look like it's actually opening something. The Atlantis gate just has lights spining around it.

Tarica makes a good point about the wormhole in Atlantis. Its the same technology, right? So why is the wormhole blue in SG1 and green in SGA? The tunnel-like wormhole I'm talking about, not the event horizon.

That's what I've been wondering. And you'll notice that once atlantis was on the air, they decided to use the same for both shows and they started using the green one full time. Who ever stole SG-1's wormhole should bring it back.

Personally, I like the iris better, just because they can still activate it without power, and once they got the trinium enhanced one, it's been as durable as a force shield.

Well think of it this way: If Atlantis ran out of power, the gate wouldn't work, either.

Thats a good point. I also like the SGC iris because its made by humans. One of the only things to do with the stargate that is.

Other stargates would still be able to connect to the Atlantis stargate.

Really? Because even when the team first arrived, the power was on.

The SGC gate needed lots of work done. The SGA gate basically came all wrapped up and pretty for the team.

Actually, can a gate be accessed by other gates if it doesn't have power?

The gate at the beginning of the SG-1 series was set up, but I don't know if there was any power going into it.

well the DHD helps power the gates but if you take them out ya got worthless gates. atleast with the SGC one you can power up just the gate and dial manually, with the atlantis one, if ya blew up the main coumputer it would make it reather difficult

BTW, SGC's gate wins all the way, dude they have davis going chervon 6 locked, alantis ain't got that

Atlantis has Chuck, though. I like him. Now that he has a name, life is better.
