"Uh huh... Why didn't you wake me up?! Why did you let the prince of all people in my room?!" She replied.

"Everytime someone tried to wake you, you would start flailing and shouting out names and telling them to leave you alone. You had a meeting with the prince and weren't waking up, so the maid went to get him and brought him here. It's not my fault you couldn't wake up" Victor replied.

Hector let out a small sigh. "Fine." She trailed off. "Well, what's done is done. Hopefully the prince has calmed down. You wouldn't guess, but he's a bit of a lady killer, even at the academy. He's used to girls acting stupid and kissing up to him to gain his favor. I think he already has a few illegitimate children, and treats girls after like they're stupid. Obviously he doesn't classify me like that, and I was hoping he never would."

"Well, women in the military isn't exactly common. In fact, I'd say if your average woman declared she wanted to be in the military, aside from being a field nurse, she'd be declared insane and put in a mental institution. Plus, he's probably angry that he got his arse kicked in dueling by a woman." Victor said. "If he's smart though, he'll keep it a secret as long as the war is going on. You are known for your military achievements"

"He deserved it." Hector replied. "He probably will, but after the war, he might expose me and execute me. It's the worse kind of feeling... knowing you're probably going to be killed and buried with disgrace."

"Well that almost happened to me if it weren't for you. Then again, since I am sworn into your service, if something happens to you, what will become of me?" Victor asked.

"I don't know." She admitted. "If you stay by my side, you'll probably be fought over by my distant relatives like the rest of my servants and property. It's a grim future for us, but hopefully it won't come to that."

"Reminds me of one of those ancient myths, where booty...including people, is divided among a hero's friends and relatives after he dies...if the enemy doesn't get it. I wasn't aware that still happened in modern times, but apparently it does" Victor commented.

"I see" Victor said. "Well I take it your meeting with the prince is off, so what is going on now?".

"That was the meeting with the prince. He just wanted to fight me." Hector shrugged. "Anyway, I think I want some fresh air. Since the military ball is this week, there's a big festival going on all over Ander to show off our new machines and such. Want to go see it?"

"I suppose. I might as well get used to these people since going back to Gunther will probably be my death" Victor said.

"Alright then." She replied, leading him out of the castle and down the steps. After all, she felt she needed some time to cool down after all that had happened the past few days.

Hector led him into the town towards the area where the common folk gathered. Many were drinking or dancing in the plaza while music was playing was being amplified by a new machine so all could hear. The bartenders were showing off new devices to switch between beers and other beverages. Soldiers were stationed all over just in case of emergency. Up and down the streets, people were showcasing all of their new devices and trinkets to foreigners who came to see all of the new and crazy inventions. The place seemed like it was a mechanical wonderland.
