 Natsu is carefree and reckless in nature, and a fiercely loyal and protective friend. No matter how futile it seems, he is willing to fight for his friends or go down trying. He has a straightforward mind, often tackling issues with a more "hands on" approach; although, his solutions to problems often involve violence. Even when disrespected or faced with obvious hostility, Natsu rarely, if ever, reciprocates such feelings and often forgoes grudge-holding. He is also known to show compassion for his enemies.
Natsu continuously tries to prove his strength to others, challenging those around him. He is generally on the losing end of these challenges yet bears no ill will towards his opponent, as he considers them to be his family, if distantly so. He even extends this attitude towards former enemies. As befitting of his reckless nature and love of fighting, Natsu never backs out of a fight, no matter how bad the odds may seem. It is his love of fighting that has allowed him to develop a rather strategic mind, helping him to find weaknesses in his opponent's techniques or weaknesses in opponents themselves. He's also defeated opponents with pure wit and sheer will, rather than brute strength at times.
