I seem to have reoccurring nightmares of someone being in my apartment while I'm sleeping when my spouse is out. One of the first and most vivid ones I had, I did not realize I was dreaming at the time which made it more frightening.

I thought I had woken up and I was laying in bed trying my hardest to remember the lyrics to a song that had popped in my head {I believe it was Linkin Park's "Crawling"}, when suddenly the door closed on its own. At first I didn't think much of it, believing that maybe the heater had kicked on and the air current caused it to close... which wouldn't happen unless it was almost closed to begin with but I didn't think of this at the time. I went on trying to remember lyrics when I noticed the light in the hallway flicker off through the cracks of the door... at this point I thought something was strange.

I started to sit up in bed when the door suddenly flung open and the light in the hallway came back on to reveal a shadowy figure standing in my doorway. It was practically just a silhouette and appeared to be a man about my height {perhaps a little shorter even} and kind of thin... I didn't view them as particularly threatening, but was worried about someone being in the apartment. It started walking toward me slowly, but it walked kind of the same way that E.T. walked which was rather odd. I tried to yell at them to get away from me and leave my apartment, but my voice suddenly didn't work. I tried to get up, but could not move from the bed. As it got close, I tried to push it away but felt incredibly weak. It started to reach out as if to grab my arm when I woke up.
