"...It's the baby." Balthazar sighed in frustration as he plopped down in a char opposite Kaistern, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Even if it's only half-demon, they think the human body just can't support it."

 

[M3Gnificent]

"It...can't support it?" Ophelia just gazed at Balthazar for several moments, the cheer she held before frozen on her face as she tried to fully process what this might mean. "Is the child in danger? Am I? I don't think I fully understand the situation."

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

Kaistern glanced at Ophelia and reached out to hold her hand while Balthazar continued. "Demons are powerful creatures. Even the babies are strong, and they need a lot of nutrition while they're still developing. And the human body just can't keep up with those needs. And this is early in the development cycle. Once it starts kicking it might actually do some serious damage from the inside."

 

[M3Gnificent]

Ophelia's façade of pleasantness and cheer rapidly crumbled. She gripped Kaistern's hand tightly, biting her lip hard as she resisted the urge to scream out in anger at her current predicament. "Did they mention any possible solutions to our...problem?"

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Not a one. Just that they'd do their best to 'look into it'. Tch...They make it sound like they're tracking down a hard to find book..." Balthazar said with some disgust.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"s**t." Ophelia huffed out a heavy sigh, frustration evident upon her being. "If I want anything done right, it looks like I'll have to do it myself." Not that she had much faith in the castle staff when it came to important matters anyway. "Would you both kindly escort me to libraries of ancient magics or whatever when you can in the upcoming days? Knowing how things normally go, they aren't going to find any viable solution before I kick the ******** bucket."

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Nonononono!" Kaistern put a hand to her shoulder before she tried to sit up. "You're in no shape to be up and about, even if you could stay standing for more than a few minutes. I know the staff can be...less than reliable when it comes to matters such as these, but let us take care of things. We're not about to let you whither away either."

 

[M3Gnificent]

Ophelia was about to protest, but considering the situation, Kaistern was right. She huffed out a heavy sigh. "If you insist. Still, if you can, bring some of the heavier books back for me to read. You wouldn't believe how boring it gets in here."

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"I can stick around and keep you company too." Balthazar leaned over to give her a kiss on the forehead. "Kaistern's more the brainy sort anyway. This is right up his alley!"

 

[M3Gnificent]

"Please do. Being stuck in this room all by myself all the time is borderline suffocating." Ophelia found herself calming down once more, her lips lighting up to that pleasant smile she held before. Being alone some of the time was one thing, but being lonely all of the time was another.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Sorry. I'll try to stick around here more often until we fix this." While Kaistern left to start his search, Balthazar tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. "We're not gonna let anything happen to you."

 

[M3Gnificent]

"I know, and thank you." Ophelia scooted herself over, patting the spot on the bed beside her. "Won't you lay with me for awhile?" If anything, she just wanted to be able to hug and snuggle without being reprimanded for getting out of bed.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

Balthazar smiled as he removed a few layers of clothes before slipping into bed with her. "Like you even need to ask." he said as he put an arm around her shoulders and scooched close.

 

[M3Gnificent]

Ophelia wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his chest. For the longest while she was silent, simply enjoying the warmth and the company she now had. Her silence did not last forever, however, for she did not want to succumb to the drowsiness brought about by her condition. "You've killed plenty, right? Well, if you don't mind indulging me, what is your favorite method to use?"

"Claws, hands down...No pun intended." Balthazar said with a small chuckle, the arm around her moving to gently stroke her hair. "Where'd this come from all of a sudden?"
