The Machine [Open/Accepting]

Damien's smile turned into a frown. "Of all the timing..." he said. He looked at the soldier. "Never mind. I will send for you later. You are dismissed now" he stated. He then answered the phone once the soldier was gone.

"Yes sir." The soldier replied with a salute and left the room.

"Absolute Leader, sir. I am part of the investigation unit, and we discovered the home of level 4 suspect 'Rose Verde' ((aka Shadow)) is inaccurate. She was living in a flat, and looking at her record, we believe that she changes locations after the mandatory civilian update every year." The man said from the other line. Level 4 suspects, like Damien's brother Dustin, were rare, and thus a report via telephone or fax was sent directly to Damien as soon as something was found.

"I see. Well of course she wouldn't be this easy to find. Keep researching. We may be able to narrow things down" Damien ordered, writing down a couple notes.

"Yes sir. We will see what we find. Also, sir, it appears that we might have located the rebel base using clues from the abandoned underground base. It's highly possible that it is a diversion, but 5 squads have been sent to investigate just in case." The soldier replied.

"Good. Make sure they've been heavily armed and are prepared for an ambush. It is likely that this is a trap. If any rebels are captured, send them to an interrogation camp immediately" Damien ordered.

"Of course sir." The man replied. "Is there anything else?"

"No, that should be it. I want any reports on Shadow, even if it might be a false lead. I'll be able to figure things out if I find contradictory information" Damien stated.

"Yes sir." The man replied before hanging up.

Shadow still appeared to be lounging around as she talked between different drunken workers who were complaining. It was surprising how much good information could be found among the drunken middle class.

Damien stood up and wandered over to a window. He stared out it while holding his white gloved hands behind his back. "Damn you, Shadow. I'll find you. I'll find you and I'll blow your brains out personally" he muttered to himself.

"You could call it that" Monica had said and they continued talking while enjoying a hearty meal... Of spicy food. It wasn't a popular kind of food in the society she grew up in but she herself liked it a lot.

"I see. Anything I can do to help make up for lost happiness?" he asked.

After a while, Shadow let out a small yawn, happy with the information she did find. Finally, she let out a soft sigh as she left and rode home to her apartment. She parked her bike and walked inside the flat, tired.

"Unhappiness? I see... Well, I never really thought of it as that. For instance, managing the secret police gives me great happiness, especially when they grow in competence each day. I certainly wouldn't mind if my demise would be caused by any of them although I highly doubt it, considering the rigorous 'loyalty training' they were given, are being given and will be given again. It only means I had raised someone brave, careful and ambitious enough to overtake me... Maybe even the absolute leader. After all, my head is a difficult target, as is yours. Such an idea is very fascinating" Monica said, chuckling. She was already thinking that Jian couldn't replace her fiance any day but she wouldn't say it.
