Movies about things that really happened.
Who loves them?

I really got into them when my U.S History Teacher made us watch Schindlers list. (SP?)

What are you favorites?
Any recommendations?

Oh Schindler's List is fantastic.
And Enemy at the Gates.
I like most war movies based on fact.

I haven't watched it yet. I bought it but just haven't got around to it. But I hear The Pianist is a good movie.

I get annoyed at "historical" movies fairly often. I have a half hour rant on the problems with Braveheart that I won't subject you too, for example.

I do rather like Jarhead, though.

Well any 'historical film' by Mel Gibson is always for the most part completely wrong. Braveheart was wrong. Apoctalypto was originally based on the Aztecs, I mean the book its written after is even called Aztecs, not the Mayans. The Vietnam war movie was so unlike the war that the male lead from Vietnam got exiled from Vietnam for doing the flim on inaccurate history.
But I find that not only with Mel Gibson's films but most other historical films arent quite right. Though I love Schindler's List.

Sometimes historical films can be a bit inacurate...(Mel Gibson) and at times they are pretty good. I can't think of any other at the moment which is rare :thinks: I've seen a crap load of movies and I can't think of any historical films...

And Jarhead is wrong, as well. : D

But I don't really think the lack of accuracy of historical films are all too much of a problem. They're entertainment after all, not documentaries.
