Municipal Darwinism

General Information

Background
These are the stories of millionaire playboys, super-spies, masked mystery men, big game hunters, explorers, and two-fisted scientists. Match wits with Communist (or Western) agents, fight leftover Nazi fifth-columnists and experiments, and plumb the ruins of lost civilizations. Explore darkest Africa, the mysterious Orient, exotic South America, or even the Moon!

This is an alternate 1969 where the advanced technology present in fiction is real: ray guns, robots, jet packs, and more are available. The world is a bit simpler and the uglier aspects of reality: racial tensions, the Vietnam war, student protests, etc. are glossed over.

Rules
1. Keep in line with the rules of Gaia and of this guild.
2. In any dispute, I am the final authority.
3. Do not post the actions or responses of other characters, this includes posting that your character hits theirs, without prior consent.

Send a PM with your character using the format provided in the next post. Entitle the PM "Reality Retro," to let me know you read this whole post.

NPC Roster
Creator's Username: Municipal Darwinism
Character Name: Unknown, Alias "U-Man the Living Submarine"
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Ethnicity: Teutonic
Nationality: None (Fugitive)

Physical Description: U-Man's appearance outside of his special Submarine Suit (Unterwasserrüstung) is not known, his service file was destroyed by the Nazis during WW2. His Submarine Suit is a large metal and rubber affair. Bulky, sturdy, and arrayed with propellers and fins.

Personality Description: U-Man is a Nazi ideologue, but not a particularly inspired one. He has chosen to believe that he was selected for the Unterwasserrüstung project because of his intense patriotism, though the truth is he was simply expendable.

Background: An unknown but presumably low-ranking member of the Schutzstaffel during the war, U-Man was bonded to a heavy powered suit that allows him to operate easily underwater. He was intended to become a saboteur that could evade air-reconnaissance and destroy ships at sea as well as engage in marine combat, as the suit provides him with exemplary protection. The war ended before he was activated and he was evacuated to Argentina with other members of the Schutzstaffel. He engages in acts of terrorism and crime intended to bring about a Fourth Reich.

Technology and Products

Certain technologies are especially connected to pulp fiction and the 1960s super-spy and adventure genre, some real and some fictional. Here's a few examples. Some of these actually have origins stretching back several decades earlier or even in the 1970s, but are included here for fun.

Real Tech
Concorde, ConVair Car, Dymaxion Car, Dymaxion House, Futuro House, Geodesic Dome, Venturo House

Quasi-Real Tech
Jet Pack

Fictional Tech
Ray Guns (Disintegration, Heat, Laser, Sonic, etc.)

Magic and Artifacts

Magic exists in 1969-World of Tomorrow but it has grown subtler over the eons. Many magical things have faded away or grown weak, but there are still occultists and magicians practicing their arts. It will be up to them if magic has a place in the World of Tomorrow.

Occult Books in Fiction
