1. Baron Von Link - Link was my mom's Dachshund, but he was mine. He lived to be 13 years old before he got run over by a car. Link loved to bite at the water coming from a garden hose, loved to swim, and he looked so funny when he ran!
2. Gustav Von August - Gus was my brother's Schnauzer, but he was mine. He lived to be 16, when his body started shutting down on him and we had to put him to sleep. We trained Gus to do tricks using hand signals and would give him Cheerios for reward. He would go through all of his tricks (
not using hand signs!) for one stupid Cheerio!
3. Tinker Belle - Tinker was my calico cat. She lived to be 17 years old, when her body started to fail her, and we had to put her to sleep. Tink used to bring me "presents" consisting of the mice she used to catch.
4. Star and Comet - two grey dwarf hamsters (brothers) that lived to be 5 and 7 years old before they each died of old age. They loved to be in that plastic ball so they could roll around the house!
5. Ginger - She was my Cocker Spaniel-Poodle mix. Ginger lived to be 5 days short of 15 years old. We had to put her to sleep due to complications of heart failure. Ginger was my buddy ... she followed me around from room to room to room and was always under foot. She just loved to wear her sweater during the cold winter months!
6. Various goldfish and other freshwater tank fish.

On another note, I currently have two cats who are alive and well. Kyo is a Siamese mix and he is about 7 years old now. He is from Louisianna and is one of the "Katrina Pets" that were sent up this way after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005. After fostering him for a couple of months, we were allowed to adopt him. Kyo is quite the talker, especially when he is hungry, and he loves to sit in my lap!
And Smokey is a mischievous calico that gets into EVERYTHING! She is about 4 years old and was my uncle's cat. We took her in after he died last year. Smokey is very quiet and is learning to warm up to me, especially around feeding times, but she is still quite skittish. She most definitely keeps Kyo on his toes!
I will more that likely
always have pets around me for as long as I can care for them. For some odd reason, I have what I call "animal magnetism", where pets are always gravitating towards me, whether they are mine or not! I know that someday, all my pets will be waiting for me so we can all cross that "Rainbow Bridge" together!
