if you don'ta have at the final set of bosses you're skrood so get him the first thing you do in cloud's home town
I'll have to disagree with you on that one, becuase on my first play through i had no idea how to get vincent, and beat the game with cloud, cid, and red XIII. He is not a necessity, but I do think he is a big help.
