Have you seen these critically acclaimed movies?

Like the title says, have you seen these movies? They are critically acclaimed films that are studied in film studies courses and are widely regarded as some of the greats:

Breathless - 1960
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - 1920
Battleship Potemkin - 1925
Citizen Kane - 1941
2001: A Space Odyssey - 1969
Easy Rider - 1969
The Bicycle Thief - 1948
The Battle of Algiers - 1966

How many of these have you seen? What did you think of them?

And yes, before you ask, I've watched all of these films (with the exception of 2001) in my Film Studies classes.

Breathless and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

Breathless: I don't know, I love the flow of this film. Sort of quirky, cute, touching, honest. And I love the parallels with 40's film noir and the Bogie idolisation! Love Pierrot le fou too. Not seen any more Goddard but I've got Alphaville.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari: All that angularity of expressionism. You know it's stunning. And on a more shameless note Veidt - by no means without his appeal. Every so often I feel the need to watch Dark Journey ;}.

Can't believe I haven't seen Battleship Potemkin. Love silent film.
Have Citizen Kane but haven't ever got around to watching it.
The Bicycle Thief has been on my list for a long time.

I wish I took a film studies class D:!

Ah yes, it's quite fun, being a Film Studies major. I love it. biggrin

Breathless is the only Godard film I've seen, but I have read a little about Alphaville and Blow-Up (That was Godard too, right?) and I'm looking forward to watching those soon. I love watching it for it's editing techniques. They're really quite different, especially when you put it in the context of the time it was made.

And you NEED to watch Potemkin. It's a great film. Mostly for it's visuals, and somewhat for it's political message. Again, I like watching it for the editing.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any but I do actually own the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Citizen Kane and Easy Rider. I suppose I should really sit down one day and watch them.

Oh I don't want to be a bother but Goddard is spelt with two d's, it anoys me when people spell it with one (Again sorry it's because it's my surname is all).

Also, Jean-Luc Godard spells his name with only one 'd.' Trust me on that one.

Yea, I've seen most of them, whether studying them myself or just watching them because a friend is studying them. The Battleship Potemkin is probably the most important film ever, at least in my opinion.
