Saw relies on classic horror elements, i.e bad guy and lots of blood and gore. Whereas a psychological horror relies on the fears and emotions of the characters to create an atmosphere of horror. I.e Se7en.

Carrie is a scary movie, plus it has a really great beginning but it dies down to the middle. The ending is the best, it makes you think that seeing the whole movie was a great idea.
