Allie stared at Cooper, her blank face red. Qualifications? Well she'd done far from well in school and been a traveller for a grand total of a few hours. She did live down the road from Rowan's Pokémon Lab, however, so that was bound to count for something.

Right?

"I didn't think this was gonna be like a job interview," Allie put one hand to her hip and the other found itself wringing the base of her neck uncomfortably. "But, I've like, been going to Professor Rowan's lab every now and then for years now! Oh, and," she pumped one fist down onto her open palm, "I know what battles are supposed to look like... even... even if they are desperately cruel acts of animal abuse."

Wooper's head zoomed around his shoulders. Eyes like slits, he pointed perfectly in Artemis' direction. A dark shadow cast over his face and his mouth turned straight instead of its usual goofy smile. Wooper turned his body around and set his feet off like an overpowered blender, rushing towards the thieving pokémon... only to speed past and lick the ground to ingest the crumbs he'd spotted.

"My Blissey is really good at healing," Allie put a finger to her chin and looked up thoughtfully, "at least I think she is. Oh and my Roserade pretty much trained herself and, and-"

Before Raskal could react, Luke was ontop of him. He grabbed the younger trainer by the shirt and pulled him in close, so that Raskal could feel the warmth of his breath and the tiny droplets of spit flying from his mouth with every word. "Who do you think you are you little punk?!" The skinny biker shouted into the boy`s face. "You can`t come into our territory and think to get away with a stunt like that!"

Luke reached a hand behind him and clentched it into a tight fist before delivering it straight into Raskal`s gut. Pain wrenched into his kidney and stomach. For a moment his eyes began to glaze over from the sudden violent outburst, but even as Luke was readying another strike, both stopped and turned when Phil opened his mouth to speak.

"Uh... Luke, you better take a look at this!" He said with trepidation and fear in his voice.

And look Luke did, but the sight he took in was more crushing than the defeat he was handed only moments before. As though all of the strength left his body at once, the man broke into tears, even letting Raskal slip from his grasp to land on his knees in the sand beside him.

"GLORIA!" Luke lamented in a high pitched wail. What was once a glittering frame of well machined parts and oiled leather was now a pile of scrap, torn assunder so that no peice was left intact. Even the bolts were torn from the nuts that held them. So thorough was the carnage done to the motorcycle that even Saleem, who rarely dealth with motors and wheels, understood that it would never again take to the road. In all likelyhood it would even stay in that same spot until the sands claimed it at last.

And standing next to the pile of twisted steel with the gas tank still crushed between one of its claws, was Akaizashi. Luke could only bury his face into the sand and cry.

Lilly thought for a moment then smirked, "Let's see, other than the answers I'm seeking....I want to see a great battle with you and Blaine, it will be amazing..." she said with a grin. Using her crutches, Lilly started to make her way out the door and beckoned for Amaya to follow. "Come on, let's get going... we'll need to find him soon, then we can be on our way, what do you say?" Lilly asked with a smile.

Drake stepped out of the hotel and into the bright sunlight, stifling a yawn as he did so. On the male's shoulder was Finn Aipom, a content smile on his small face. Both trainer and Pokemon alike were fully rested, their bellies full and their lust for adventure rearing up like a caged stallion. "Okay Finn, today is the day we get off this rock!" Drake exclaimed, clapping his hands together. The prosimian chittered excitedly, pumping his fisted, prehensile tail into the air. Drake took a deep breathe of the salty air and made his was shortly down the road to the docks.

It wasn't long before Drake and Finn were back on the search for a boat. The youth was short on funds and he would rather save his money for an emergency. The trainer's previous zeal was starting to wither away when he suddenly heard a loud crashing noise. Drake and Finn whirled around, trying to locate the source of the noise. To Drake's slight horror, he saw a slumped figure on a boat, a broken box lying next to him. Drake tore down the dock, Finn hanging tightly onto his trainer's shoulder.

When he reached the figure, the male crouched down, placing a hand on the old gentleman's shoulder. The man jerked away, jumping up and letting a stream of gibberish fly out. The startled trainer staggered back, Finn hiding behind his trainer's head. The man's head jerked over, just now noticing the adolescent. "Oh, terribly sorry boy," he said, grabbing Drake's hand and shaking it enthusiastically. "I-it's okay," he stammered, "Uh...what were you doing? Did that box hit you?" Drake asked, withdrawing his hand and wiping it on the side of his jeans. Finn was inspecting from his trainer's shoulder, cautious of the strange individual.

"Oh no son! I was taking a nap. It must have fallen," he said, prodding the shards of wood with his foot. Drake inspected the man. He was wearing a yellow button-down shirt, the sleeves rolled up, grey chest hairs sticking out of the top of his shirt. A cracked diving watch was on the man's right hand, the skin of his arms and legs a deep bronze color. He was wearing a pair of light khaki, cargo shorts and a pair of brown work shoes, flecks of dried paint complimenting the deep grooves and scratches acquired from years of hard work.

The man had a strong jaw accompanied by a thick, grey bear. He was wearing a black visor, his bald head gleaming in the sunlight. He had merry, blue eyes, a spark of life and youth despite his age. The man turned back to Drake and then back to his boat. "What is a young fellow like you doing out on the docks. A young sir like yourself should be in the town lady hunting," he said, winking wryly at Drake. The youth let out a small laugh, immediately taking a liking to the old man. "Well you know, the ladies will have to wait. I mean, I hate to deprive them of this," he said, waving his hands down the length of his body, a smile on his face. The man let out a booming laugh, scaring Finn back behind Drake's head. "I like you son!" the man said, a thick arm around the youth's shoulder, scaring Finn to his trainer's arm. "Haha, I'm glad, but no, the real reason here is because I am looking for a ride," he said. Drake then went on to explain the situation to the man.

"Well Drake, that's quite a story," the man said, standing with his arms crossed, his eyes on the bandages on the adolescent's chest. Drake was wearing a short-sleeved, black button-down, a pair of faded blue jeans, a pair of black sneakers, and a brown piece of leather tied around his right wrist. The man snapped back to reality, flashing Drake a smile. "I'll give you a ride son!" the man boomed. Drake was slightly taken aback by the man's generosity, but he was thankful for his good luck. "That would be awesome Mr.?" he said. "Collins. John Collins, the man said, chuckling slightly. The brown-headed youth reminded him a lot of his grandson. "Well Drake, Finn, shall we head out?" he asked, a smile on his face. "Let's go!" Drake said, happiness written across his face. Finn chattered excitedly, liking the man and not feeling scared or intimidated anymore.

It wasn't long before Drake and Finn found themselves on a medium-size, white boat. "Seabiscuit" written across the hull in bold, black letters. Drake gazed out onto the horizon, Finn asleep comfortably on his shoulder. The gentle sound of the waves sloshing against the side of the metallic exterior of the boat and the slight breeze relaxed the youth. He dropped his guard, feeling safe for the first time in a long time. It was hard to escape your demons, but he felt like he had temporarily hidden out of view of his demons' sights. "Next stop, Pallet Town," the trainer thought to himself.

"Sounds like a plan. Just let me pick up my pokemon and we can go" replied Amaya with a smile as she also stood and made her way over the the center's counter. Thankfully, she didn't have to wait too long for the nurse to retrieve her now healthy friends. Her smile now wider, she thanked the nurse and happily placed their balls on her belt before turning to face Lilly. "I properly greet them after I let them rest some more in their balls" thought Amaya as she walked on over to the doors. "So we're set?"

Lilly nodded and smiled as she waited for her friend to get her pokemon out and then head out the door beckoning her friend to follow. "Yep! All set!" exclaimed the coordination happily as she limped with a smile on her face even though she had a broken leg. "So, I'm guessing we are going to be going to the Cinnabar Gym first too look for him?" Lilly thought out loud and she looked at a sign post with big white bold letters saying "Gym" on it and pointed in the direction the Gym was in. Then Lilly started to limp along that way.

Drake turned away from the scenic ocean view and walked over to John. "Mr. Collins, how long do you think it will be until we make it to Pallet Town?" the teen inquired. John turned to the adolescent, a small smile spread across his broad face. The man seemed to always be in a good mood. "Call me John my young sir," the old man replied, clapping the polite trainer on the shoulder with his friend hand, "As for Pallet Town...well, I need to make a stop in Fuchsia City and I would love it if you would accompany. After that, I would be glad to take you anywhere you wanted." Drake seemed to think about the idea for a second, knowing the answer as soon as the man had mentioned the trainer traveling with him. Drake and Finn exchanged glances and eager grins, the human of the duo turned to jovial, old man. "We would be glad to!" he exclaimed. John's smile widened even more as he placed both hands on the steering wheel, letting out a hearty laugh as he pulled a particularly sharp turn on the blue waters.

Drake and Finn were flung back, the trainer hitting his back against the metallic railing of the boat, his chest wounds exploding in pain. Black patches appeared in the teen's sights. He quickly shook it off and struggled to his feet. "Are you alright buddy?" he asked his prosimian pal. Finn rubbed a small arm over his right ear and nodded his head. Drake chuckled. The man had not done it on purpose of course. He was an overzealous, old man, glad to have a companion on the lonely ocean waters. John was completely absorbed in steering the boat, his eyes grazing over the ocean waters, his hands adjusting the wheel in a very practiced fashion. Drake chuckled once more and walked to bow of the ship, hoping to enjoy the wonderful view of the horizon.

The boat cut through the water like a razor leaf through a loaf of bread. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and Drake was lying on an old lawn chair at the bow of the ship, absorbing the sunlight, the warm rays of the sun combined with the gentle rocking of the boat and the gentle sloshing of the waves was lulling the trainer to a gentle sleep. The throbbing in his chest seemed to disappear as the teen left the world of consciousness.

Finn, meanwhile, was perched on John's shoulder, watching the old man curiously as the human went through the motions of steering and controlling the boat. The normal-type was absolutely fascinated with the steering wheel of the boat. The little monkey had never seen anything like it and his interest was not hidden to John, who merely laughed and tried his best to explain the boat controls, not really knowing if Drake's Pokemon could understand anything he was saying. John looked across the horizon. He could see Pallet Town approaching.

"Seems like it" said Amaya as she followed her friend out. "Think the place will be open? I've come across Gyms where the leader is away or missing" asked the trainer while looking nervously up ahead. She was feeling both nervous and excited about the upcoming battle with Blaine. If all goes well, she'd be able to prover her worth to herself and her newfound friends.

Lilly smiled as she continued out and started to make her way to the gym, “Well, I hope so. But if it isn’t we really need to find out where Blaine is…” she said, “I mean I really need to talk to that man…” she said softly, before she headed along the path. Soon enough she and Amaya reached the Gym. The coordinator eyed the place for a moment, it seemed as if no one was there, but she decided to try and knock anyway. Reaching her hand to the door, she gently knocked, eagerly waiting for a reply.

Drake was woken by the sound of Wingull's cawing above. The trainer opened his eyes and sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes with the palms of his hands. The teen yawned and stretched before standing up. He looked around. They had reached the small dock located in Pallet Town and John was securing the ship to the docks. Finn was looking down into the clear, blue water, turning around when he heard Drake's yawn. The little prosimian chittered excitedly and hopped onto the boat deck, racing towards his trainer and climbing upon his perch, Drake's shoulder. The teen laughed and gave the Pokemon a small pat on the head. "I guess we made it to Pallet Town. What do you say that we stop by Professor Oak's lab and see everyone before heading to Saffron? Sound like a plan?" he asked the creature. Aipom nodded excitedly.

Drake stepped towards dock and nimbly hopped onto the wooden surface. He turned to John and extended his hand. "Thank for everything. I guess I should be heading to Saffron now. It was nice meeting you," the teen said. Finn chittered and nodded at the man, his way of saying thank you and goodbye. The old man grinned broadly and shook the youth's hand. The seafarer put his hand down by his side and looked at the teen. "It was no problem, my boy. It was nice to have some company and a co-captain," he said, throwing Finn a wink, "I guess I'll be heading to Fuchsia City now. My family is there and I promised I would pay a visit." The man hopped onto the boat, undoing the boat from the dock and walking towards the center of the boat. "Farewell Drake! Good luck!" the old man called as his boat started off in the opposite direction of Pallet Town. Drake and Finn watched the small vessel until it disappeared over the horizon. The teen smiled and turned to Finn. "Let's go, buddy," he said. He turned and made his way to Oak's lab, Finn still looking at the clear, blue sea behind them.

"Well i'm positive finding him will be easy in that case. I mean, this is an island and how far can one man get? People are bound to see him also so that's another plus" said Amaya with a confident smile as she waited by the doors with her friend.

Kijin leans back against a large tree within the forest his eyes focusing on the horizon, his hands fiddling with the pokeballs he kept for capturing though he didn't do it as much as he should. "I must admit I thought getting to Kanto would be a bit harder, or at least not so short guess I miss judge the distance." He says pulling the hand out of his pocket and rubbing his head ruffling his hair a bit, he would stretch his back a little and looks down towards the path that was almost clear cut through the woods,"Well might as well get going this is going to be a lot of fun." He grins to himself as he makes his way towards his first destination Pewter City.
