Big name Asian artists are set to perform at the 6th Asia Song Festival on September 19th.
The show is set for 6 P.M. at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Northern Seoul. The organizers of the event, the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KFICE), also got V6 (Japanese band) and Ekin Chang (Singer/Actress from Hong Kong) to perform at the Festival.
The headliner k-pop groups set to perform include SNSD / Girl's Generation, Super Junior, 2NE1, and Big Bang. The rest of the lineup includes Japanese artists Gackt and Mihimaru GT, Chinese Chris Lee, Taiwanese Show Luo, Thai K-Otic, Vietnamese Ho Ngoc Ha, and Indonesian Agnes Monica.
The KFICE stated that their main goal was to raise the competitiveness of Asian Music in the global market. Not such a problem from k-pop as it is for other Asian genres, as our community at allkpop proves, but the idea of getting Asian artists together to raise awareness is great.
On a side note, the KFICE stated that 2NE1 will be receiving the "Asian Newcomer's Award" this year.
On an even better note, admission to the festival is completely free! The festival's website started providing free tickets on Aug. 21st to download (You will need a Korean citizenship number). Hurry, because they're almost out!
