I just learnt that this girl I know is in the hospital and is in need of a blood transfusion for an operation, but the hospital doesn't have any. She needs O+ blood and I am that blood type. One of our mutual friends called to ask me if I can give blood for the operation and I happily volunteered over the phone. I just told my Mom where I plan to be in the next hour---at the hospital giving blood, and she freaked out. You see, I forgot all about the fact that I have low blood pressure and therefore would not be a suitable blood donor. Damn! Now I gotta call back and let my friend know that I can't do it anymore, and dash the hopes of my ill friend's family. stressed Apparently, the girl has some disease we didn't know about and it's shutting down her organs. sad

It's fairly easy to find O+ blood.
I, myself, am O+ -- we're like the universal donors of the world.

I'm pretty sure the hospital would try and get in contact with another if they cannot find anyone. If not, they will possibly ask their staff to give blood if they can. I'm sorry that has happened and you cannot give blood, but hopefully things will be alright.
