I hate it when that happens ! I have a habit of falling for gorgeous gay guys too. It sucks because they're unattainable. scream
It probably wouldn't change much if you told him how you felt about him. At the most, he'd appreciate you and perhaps you two will end up as good friends.. It's worth a shot to let him know, though.
Please elaborate on what you mean by "strange." Maybe he has a crush on you too?
well, if hes gay then you can still be friends, right? also, with your friend, mabe he likes you. if you kind of like him, then mabe you guys could get together instead
