Occasionally I'll get it into my head to attempt writing poetry, which is a very sad, sad thing as I know absolutely nothing about writing poetry. Nevertheless, here are three poems I've written, two of which are 'free form' or something, and the last of which is an attempt at a haiku.

Another tired old love story,
Both players whispering tired old sentiments,
Could it be anymore cliché?
Does anyone really act like that?
Everyone else seems to dream of all this junk,
Fair maidens and their personal white knights,
Gentle touches and longing glances,
Happy endings as they ride off into the sunset,
I feel nothing but disgust at their idiocy,
Just foolish and impractical dreaming,
Kisses are worth nothing to me,
Love is naught but annoyance and indignity,
My life could be complete without a lover,
Nobody seems to stop and think about it,
On the ugliness and the shallowness of it,
Perhaps it is just their biological imperative,
Questing for another screaming, puking baby,
Romance is nothing but a bribe for this,
Stupidity and selfishness are love’s offspring,
Troubling behavior is brushed aside in its name,
Utter uselessness is blindly ignored in its name,
Victory can never be achieved in this game,
Women and men can only lose less or more,
X and O should be nothing but letters,
Young lovers, realize that love is worth naught,
Zero, zilch, nada, zip, nothing at all.

You watch those films and shows everyday,
And now somehow you’ve gotten this idea,
That a magical person will suddenly appear,
Who’ll drag you off on an adventure,
Well, forget it.

No, nobody is coming to save you,
Nobody will be saving you from yourself,
Sudden meanings don’t come from nowhere,
Grand adventures don’t look for you,
Just forget it.

You’ll let yourself idle just for nothing,
Content in the knowledge that someday soon,
Something will happen, maybe aliens will invade,
And you’ll be off with a purpose,
Please, forget it

I can’t stand to watch you anymore,
You seem to think reality’s no good,
That there’s nothing exciting worth looking for,
What’s wrong with everything that’s around you?
Never mind, forget it…

It was my birthday,
I looked as I had before,
Everything changes but me.

Thanks for the comment!

I don't necessarily agree with any of the poems (For instance, unlike the speaker in the first poem, I am heavily into fluffy romances) but it's interesting to see how people react to them.
