o_o omg Have not been on gaia in ages (lost my password again.... found a piece of paper with it on it like a week ago eheh.....)

So I'm having trouble with art D: And critiques would be lovely. Please and thank you T__T (and sorry if the image sizes are too large D smile

Detail:

The torso and hip area (plus her legs and feet) are really bothering me. And the shoulders as well. (Ok her whole body). And the orange blobs are going to be fishies btw biggrin

Update:
So I dunno if I like this version better or not.... it changes the whole concept and mood, dunno which one I like. Any opinions?

Here's a redline.
Some things I noticed right off the bat:
- The ribcage did not align properly with the torso.
- The breasts need to be lower.
- Be aware of the breast-to-armpit connection. I'm not the greatest artist for this, so look it up with an anatomy book.
- You're completely missing the pelvic bone in this drawing.
- Her right arm looks more like a column than an arm. Check up your arm anatomy for this.

My redline should give you suggestions on how to approach some of these things, but it's entirely up to you.

Omg thank you kupocake!! Haha, I need to practice anatomy this summer before college @_@ eh. Oh, btw I check out your blog and loved your figure drawings! Were those from a model or just out of your head?

Oh, and which one do you prefer of the two up there? Thanks sooo much biggrin

edit: Oh, and I'll make changes to her torso and everything biggrin

I personally like the second one better, it has a clearer message and better composition. My suggestion, to make it an even stronger composition, is to add something on the blank top-right area, perhaps a large underwater rock or something that's been blurred with the rest of the water. Merely a suggestion, I just find that area a tad too bare.

All the drawings in the May 7 entry were from models. biggrin But, my homework every day for that class was to draw from my own figures that I created, or anatomy studies. It was a pretty rigorous class, but it taught me so much!

I'm sure you can find something, your pieces always come out pretty fantastic.

Yep, going to Sophomore year now. The class was Figure Drawing for Animators, although Illustration/Game Art majors were encouraged to take it as well. It focused more on gesture drawing/feeling rather than well-rendered pieces. It was 6 hours of pure figure drawing fun every week. XD
