absolutely mother effing mindf-ck!!
i saw it, on my computer some years ago, and then i became obsessed with it.
this was before i had much knowlege of internet, mind you, my limits were to find videos and music through Kazaa -yeah, that long ago >.>!
s'owell, i managed to get a hold of the collection box, after about 3-6 years, i watched it again and... during episodes 16-20 i had to turn the series off and go watch powerpuff girls and teletubbies :'x!!
seriously! you can't watch that serie unfaced!!!
i mean, uh... yeah!
think this; they've put human anatomy, sex, and christianity into the worst possible combination you could ever imagine D:_!!
so anyway, it's a complete mindf-ck and you can't just watch it and then forget it!
i hate it!!! and i love it, i can't tell wether it's equally or if one of the aspects rule over the other, at any case; i am now obsessed to get the newer version of the series O_o...
-not the one with the stupid pink girl in it >_<'!!
-the newer version of the 1995 original evengelion, aaaaah you just can't watch that serie without your stomach churning every few episodes.
such complexity and such wonderful aspects of the human psyche ^_^'!!
my favourite angel is Leliel O3o
Neon genesis Evangelion is the first serie ever, where i've thought the gore was just too much.
and i've seen Elfen lied and Higurashi O_O'!
...and Berserk... and Akira (that one's also totally f-cked up O_o') and some couple of dozens more ^_^'!

i don't see why you put this in Shonen though?
it should definetely be either in the horror or the multiple cathegories one >_>''
