I went to the conference in Hawaii to get people to support gay marriage, as many people believe you must be respectful, but no most of the gays were playing lady gaga while they had the conference, and yelling at people as well as acting in mature, They had mean sighs about straight people. I’m A Lesbian but I find them acting barbaric and in mature in a court house, this is all disrespectful and I understand that people now think that gays are disrespectful, in mature, as well as cruel. Is anyone else outraged about this? And because of them we lost the gay marriage bill!
Debate on this subject, do you agree we would have won if they had acted non-barbaric?

Same as straight people embarrassing other straight people. Stupidity and immaturity cannot be related to sexual orientation.

I don't think there would have been much of a difference if they had acted mature. I'm not against gay marriage, but it seems there would have been no difference. :/ So don't blame them.

I don't think losing the bill ha anything to do with them. However, I agree to some extent - personally, I have a problem with the whole 'pride' thing. I want to be treated like anyone else, to not have to state my gender preference out loud yet be accepted whether I'm seen with a girl or a guy. The whole concept of 'pride' isolates the gay community, when really a) there's nothing to be proud of - big achievement, you're attracted to the same sex! and b) it's always used to strengthen differences and display them in a way that's generally very vulgar.

Pride and gay organizations are to bring people with same interest and ambitions together to make a difference. As much as I see where you were going with it I don't completely agree. Like slaves that would sing in groups, have organizations etc to better their life. They were different. Of course that is only based on the majority in the past. Gays are different according to the social norm today. If they don't have "pride" organizations and such no one would even be aware and I'm sure conservatives would be happy. No they are bringing awareness to their existence and the fact that they deserve human rights that are not allowed at this point in many locations. I know here in Texas, you can be fired for being gay. Plus there is a thing as 'straight alliances' that are very much involved and when you are being restricted of basic rights you need pride to push for it.

I think there's a considerable difference between gay rights activism/awareness and pride celebrations. Being gay doesn't mean you walk around naked with a feather up your a**, but that's the image generally projected by pride parades and other gay-oriented cultural events. To go back to the parallel you made with slaves, I see it this way: Gays parading once a year in their underwear and being ridiculously vulgar and tasteless about it while the fight for equality and social recognition is happening, is the equivalent of African-American slaves walking in the streets half-naked sacrificing live chickens and singing voodoo incantations while the Civil War is raging. Did that happen? Nope. There's a time and place for everything, and because something is part of your cultural heritage doesn't mean you have to display it publicly while the rest of your community is trying to make you appear like civilized members of society. I wouldn't tolerate "straight pride" any more; thankfully there's no parade with Hooters girls giving lapdances to buff beer-drinking men on a car-shaped float - because that's a misrepresentation of what heterosexuality is, even though that's how the media choose to acknowledge it. To have a double standards for us because we're queer doesn't seem right to me, especially since what we're fighting for is equality.

Feathers shoved up their asses? I have not idea what you are talking about. Oh and nudists have celebrations all the time, should we ridicule their behavior too? I mean they even live nude in little communities. How vulgar neutral There is a time and a place for everything, yes. And it is done once a year to enjoy being in a group that will most certainly accept them and they feel free. Tastelessness is all opinion. But being a part of a culture or heritage is a good reason to celebrate. Every culture has many different celebrations throughout the year. Some dress up, some have bizarre foods or costumes but I don't see anything wrong with enjoying being close to people that have more in common with you. Mexicans, Japanese, African, etc all have celebrations that express their individuality as cultures which ever way they please. They are just born into a race/ nationality. They all have rights in the US so should they give up the celebrations because they need to act all the same as 'equals'? I don't think so.
