My opinions might be a little biased, but I'm personally all for it. My fiance has cancer and through blood donations (pretty different though) I've seen him get what seems like a second chance of life. The way I see it, if I'm gone, I won't have any use of my organs. I have it checked to be a organ donor on my drivers license if something were to happen to me, and I hope that if something does happen to me that maybe there can be a way for my loved ones to give back and get something positive out of what could be a pretty sad situation.
What are your views on organ donation?

I'm selfish and I intend on being buried with all my organs.

I've been tossing the idea around a lot, on whether or not to register. The only thing holding me back from doing it is something my mom said, about the scenario of some rich person abusing the system, buying or otherwise obtaining information and killing someone so they can have the organ(s) they need. I mean, I'm sure it doesn't happen, but that's always worried me. Who's to stop it from happening? I don't have that much faith in the system.
I would want my body donated to science, though, should I go another way. Have people learn from me and have some use from my mortal shell; since I can't get back into the carbon cycle because apparently it's immoral to have one's body say, thrown through a woodchipper and the tissues left for scavengers and decomposers, well then at least I can be of some use for something.

I view it pretty much the same way you do, except I haven't really decided whether or not I want to do it. I'm pretty sure that I do, but my mother seems to be against it and I don't want to do anything to make her angry that I can't undo later. I've talked with her about it a few times, and I plan to do so again soon. Every time we talk about it, the more she agrees with my point of view on it. I just don't see the point in keeping something that I can't use once I'm dead that could save someone who is still alive and fighting.

I definitely will do it, but I don't think any can be used to due to health issues. rolleyes I'd like my body to be used for scleroderma research, but come on. Do I really want a med student sticking pencils up where they don't belong?

[~+~] Over here you choose whether or not you want to register when you get your provisional drivers liscence. As my Mum said though, if i'm not using them, someone else may aswell get some use out of them.
As it happens, i think i want to be cremated when i die, so it's not even as if i have any reason to be "buried" with them.
But that's just my personal choice, i can understand why some people don't though.

I'm probably going to donate my organs (havn't donated yet, but i'm planning to biggrin ). When i'm dead, I don't think i'll be able to use them, so might aswell give something to help someone.

I feel the same way you do - I don't care about my organs if I'm dead, so they might as well go to helping someone.
My mom wasn't keen on the idea, but she eventually signed my card (when I was under 1 cool . Now, I've registered with my province and let my husband know my wishes. There's no religious reason for me to keep them, and I want to be cremated (the thought of worms eating through my flesh icks me out, even if I'd be dead anyway).

I have a blood deficiency, so I don't think I can personally donate. I'm also kind of a selfish person, so I don't think I would even if I could. But hey, much respect to all the people who do donate.

If you are an organ donor most of the organs (if not all) have to have your blood still pumping through them. So really what kinda happens is you are brain dead, they just keep your blood moving so the organs don't die and start to rot.
Now that thought really creeps me out, being dead but your organs are still alive??hmmmm? But yes I'm an organ donor because then I'll already dead and where I'm headed it won't matter whether I have all my organs or not...

I'll donate mine when I die (that is if anyone wants them XD) because I will be saving someone's life.
