I don't know I think it's ridiculous to hide your kid from such things, it comes to a point where it gets ridiculous. One time when I was on vacation and we were riding a trolley, they started singing 100 bottles of beer and some lady shouted pop every time they said beer and it sucked the fun out of it. They might as well know sooner or later because they are going to find out what beer is sometime. I'm not saying they should know things like hardcore sex stuff and stuff like that (though they should basic biology, of course) but other then that parents shouldn't do that. Perhaps they just want there kids to stay young forever and innocent but by the time you're 6 I think parents need to let go and let you explore and know things.

Also, there's this 16 year old kid Named Curtis at my school. His parents have pretty much dumped innocence on him. He thinks the holocaust couldn't have happened cause that would've been too violent and whenever he hears the word "sex" uttered, even when it's just a syllable (such as when the subject is sexual orientation, Sexual harrassment, or sex discrimination) he covers his ears and cowers into the fetal position. I guess his parents made him this way due to attachment issues, but that's no excuse to deny him the real world. He's 16! Don't they understand the consequences in the long run? They're pretty much ruining his life!

Poor boy. i think its wrong to deny REAL world from theyr child. Youngsters in that age should know about sex, should be interested about sex somehow and not be afraid of it. Probably that young man is not able to enjoy anything related to sex in a long time just because parents said its bad and wrong. Some parents just want to think theyr little sweetie never grow up and hope he stays in that little boy what he was. But its wrong, definetly, he should enjoy his life and see reality.

But Why would parents ruin their kid's life all because of some attachments issues? Why act on them. This is pretty much borderline psychological abuse.

Well if they want to tell kids what "beer" is they could say it's an abbreviation for "root beer" hell, I'd be convinced lol
There are some things that kids will have to learn, and particularly, I think they should even learn about sexuality and even gender issues (such as cross dressing, transgender, gender bender, etc)

As for the kid, yeah it's a bit of psychological abuse if he cowers just from hearing any word with "sex" in it. His parents must've been really strict on him with that for it to cause such a reaction.

Is it wrong to shelter a child to that degree? Probably. Should they be charged with psychological abuse? I don't think so. What good would it do at this point in his life? The kid will have to grow up and accept things on his own time; there's no good in attacking his parents. It may even have the opposite effect as he may see it as the type of attack that his parents have been 'protecting' him against and retract further.

I guess charging them now wouldn't do much. They'll realize the error of their ways either when they're old and he's a 50 year old NEET with no life still living with them or when he dies homeless on the street after a failed comedy career.

Parents who cast overkill Innocence on kids need to get with reality, because the kids that are "brain washed" like that are gonna end up beaten up or killed by someone or by stupidity. (eg. Kid picks up gun never seen one before and shots himself in the head)

SEX

Oh...don't worry so much. Innocence is great to have. I wish I still thought the worst thing that ever happened was Mufasa dying.

With Curtis, I think it's kinda cute he gets freaked out by just the word sex. When he's twenty he'll be into all kinds of sexual kinks and maybe become addicted to internet porn.
This is what happens when parents try to protect kids too much.

Or perhaps something might just snap in his head and he won't be the victim, but the guy that actually does beat up/murder cause he can't deal with handling people say it anymore

I think parents try to keep their kids innocent, because they want to protect them from the world's harmful ways, or from the mistakes they made. We all lose our innocence, through the world or through knowledge given by our parents. It's foolish though, and a waste of time. If you think about it, we're really not that innocent when were young: we lie, we bully, we fight. We're not very innocent when we're young, not at all. I never understood why parents lie to their children about Santa, and the Easter Bunny. Eventually children learn that these "people" were never real, and resent the parents for lying to them(sometimes). Then there's always media(our media has alot of sex). In the end, children who are raised to stay innocent, usually end up very ignorant of the world and can't survive.

I don't think the parents should be charged because they just probably really love him and wants whats best for they're son, even if they would go to the extreme. I agree that what the parents are doing is wrong but they shouldn't be charged :/

It's an attachment issue. You see your child, this thing that you created and has been a part of your life since it even knew what life was and all you want is to keep it young and to yourself. It's almost a type of selfishness. You want your child to be tis innocent and adorable thing like it was when it was young. When these things become introduced to the child, a parent may believe they can have an attraction to these things thus, leaving them behind. However at some point it does become overbearing.
