I finally folded and got heartworm preventive. Went with revolution since it sounds like the safest one. (In terms of the way it works it's only one drug and the type of drug is non toxic to mammals.) I'm still stuck between being paranoid about the heartworm and being paranoid about messing with my dog's immune system. But he does go hiking, to the cottage, camping etc etc. So, ramble over, he's starting revolution today.

Here's my question. He was JUST over the red box (10-20kg I think) Right now he's 20.5kg but he's overweight, so I think they SHOULD have given me the red box, but too late now I opened it. Anyway, so the dosage is 6mg/kg which is a lil over 120 for him and there's 240mg in a tube with this box. VS. 120mg in a tube for the red box. SO my plan was to give half a tube.

All this to say. If I puncture a tube, can I keep what's left? With the cap left on, is it sealed enough to keep for a month? My other question would be, how long is revolution usually good for. It says it expires 2013 so if I do it this way can I use the remaining tubes next season? (heartworm season is june 1rst to... Sept or October I think, here in Quebec)
