Safe, Haru thought with a relieved sigh after reaching the cover of a bush. The rabbit dared not peek out of her hiding place as of yet.
Eva wasn't too far behind that she lost her target. Eva moved from one bush to the next within the vicinity of Haru's location, but the rabbit did well to conceal herself at the moment.
"Eep," Eva recognized the surprised voice despite being focused on her hunt. Kacie had followed the ferret Eva and found that a patch of earth gave way beneath one of her steps and found her front, right hoof stuck all of a sudden.
"Kacie, shh, what happened to stealth?" Eva hadn't turned to check on her purple counterpart and Kacie hadn't noticed this and had been focused on freeing her hoof until she was addressed.
The rustling paused as Kacie ceased her struggle for a moment, "Oh, sorry, Eva. My hoof's stuck and I'm trying to get it unstuck." Kacie's voice had replied in a whisper but the resuming of her task prompted the sounds of snapping twigs and crunching leaves.
Dividing her attention for now, Eva began to assist Kacie and eventually the hoof was freed. Then the two had begun looking for Eva's intended meal together.
"Haru?" A voice called seemingly out of nowhere, "We've been given carrots, a whole lot of them today apparently, don't you remember? Are you unwell? On days like this you'd usually already have arrived back there way before I have for early lunc-!"
Kacie and Eva hadn't minded the passerby too much until they heard the sound of surprise in the voice. Kacie had noticed what had happened first since talk of carrots had made her somewhat curious and reminded her she was hungry. She'd hurried over to offer to help, since another had stepped on the same place her own hoof got stuck at, but in this case getting unstuck looked like a breeze since the trouble was amended quickly.
"I got my hoof stuck there, too. Are you okay?"
"Thank you, I'm fine," Mara Jade replied in kind, "Oh, then how about you?"
"I'm okay, thank you, too."
To sum up the rest of this first meeting of four new friends: Eva didn't eat Haru but instead went hunting for another meal as the three had carrots for lunch, which didn't take Eva long to join them after the new hunt and meal proceeded more swiftly. It turned out that the friends Haru and Mara Jade shared in common a very close human friend who resides in this teepee whom Kacie and Eva were introduced to when she had arrived to find the number of those present today at her teepee she expected other than herself had doubled. Soon the teepee no longer sheltered three but instead now five.

"Hello, everyone, what's new?" Mara Jade greeted the purple duo and blue rabbit.
"Oh, Mara Jade, look," Kacie directed the green and white figure toward two plushies, one with wings and the other clad in a decorative fabric.
"Eva took them once. And she was worried when Eva did," Haru mentioned a previous incident about the two plushies. "But she didn't get angry," Haru added with a smile.
"Eva was trying to cheer me up and decided to show them to me," Kacie continued the story.
"She was still so nice about my taking them without permission but looked really relieved when she found out we had them," Eva commented as well.
"Yes, but we decided not to touch them without her permission. She said they're gifts," Kacie said next.
"They're really neat," Mara Jade said after hearing about them.
Eva, Haru, and Kacie gave a nod of their head in agreement almost at the same time.

Edren thought he was seeing things at first. However, while he was out scavenging for food, he came across..a line of carrots. They weren't growing. But..they were..forming a trail? A..risky..taste test confirmed that the carrots were real, well, at least that was what his taste buds told him. Part of him wondered if this was some kind of trap or just his lucky day. Either way, he figured he would find out soon enough. And this peculiar carrot encounter hooked his interest enough to nibble his way after the possible source.
What he encountered was a human and the carrots were falling out of a hole in a sack. The human eventually noticed he was following the carrot trail and even procured more for him to eat as she ended the trail of falling carrots by remedying the carrots' escape route.
Edren remembers this incident as a funny one. Perhaps he and the human would coincidentally meet again.
