Back when I was a little girl something awful happened to me. I fell and bashed my nose hard on the pavement causing my nose to seriously hurt so my mum took me to the hospital and they said that they couldn't tell if it were broken or not.
Now my nose is worse. You can see my bone sticking out. When I turn my head to the side my nose has a slight bump on it. My confidence is low because of this. However, I'm scared about getting my nose fixed because I've never had an operation before and the thought of someone breaking my nose makes me cringe.
Girlies, help me out! What should I do? My family say I need my nose fixed now because it's getting worse, but I would get it fixed if I weren't so terrified.

I have the exact same problem. My nose broke when I was 6 months old.
& i have an ugly bump there. My mom tells me its fine.. but i hate my side profile because of it. I'm way too poor to ever get it fixed though lol so I'm stuck with mine.
Get it if you can afford it & if YOU feel like it's the right thing to do. Not your family. It isn't them that has to walk around with it or go through recovery.
Good luck, dear smile

They couldn't tell if it was broken or not? That doesn't sounds right to me. I would be pretty ticked at that doctor....but anyway.
You are beautiful inside and out and whether your nose is perfect or not people are going to love you for who you are.
But if you want to get your nose fixed I agree with your family. You should do it now. I mean, they probably aren't going to give you the straight nose like the computer edited ones of a model but you want to get it done while there is still a chance of them being able to fix it. You don't want to wait a few years and when you go in they doctor's like "We can do the operation but there's a chance we won't be able repair it. You really should have come in when you were a child."
Perhaps you should go in to see a specialist and ask them about it. Tell them your fears and hopes and ask what they recommend doing, if you can wait, surgery won't fix it, it's really not that big of a deal and doesn't have to be fixed if you don't want to. ect.
I will be praying you make the choice that is right for you.

If it's messing up with your health (such as sinuses and stuff) then I would suggest seeing a doctor and seeing what they suggest. Otherwise? Your nose is a part of you and it's what makes you special. I know how it feels to have some sort of mark/scar/whatever that makes you feel self conscious.
In the end, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a doctor say whether or not they think it could help, especially if you have the money and people behind you!

How serious is it? Do you have a picture? If it is causing medical issues, then you should definitely have that fixed as soon as possible. If not, then it's ultimately up to you. I myself don't see any problems with having small cosmetic surgeries if that is what will make you feel better about yourself. Everyone wants to look and feel beautiful, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with that, as long as you are not obsessing over it and keep wanting more. It isn't as terrifying as you think, I can tell you first hand. I understand how nervous it can be at first, but as soon as you go under the effects of the anesthetics you won't feel a thing until the operation is done and the effects wear off and you start your recovery, and by then it'll be done and over with already and will be a lot easier to deal with.

I would only go through with the surgery if that's what YOU want to do. Just remember: you are beautiful inside and out and no matter what anyone else says do what feels right. If you decide against the surgery, that is perfectly fine. If you decide to have the surgery done, I would highly reccommend seeing a specialist. I've had plenty of things done by my oral surgeon to fix my mouth (I was born with missing teeth and teeth in the wrong places.) and he has done a great job. I'm not very good when it comes to surgeries and whatnot, but you are always stronger than you think you are. 3nodding

I would go through with the surgery if it was
1-causing health problems for you or 2-you feel it is worth the money to boost your confidence. Especially knowing that this is something that will go on your whole life unless you fix it, I would almost lean towards doing it because the confidence problems will not really go away.
If your one problem is fear of having an opearation, do not let that hold you back. It is a little bit scary at first, but you will be okay during and after the surgery.

Like others have said: if it's causing health problems, making it hard to breathe, etc., then by all means DO IT. If it's just a cosmetic issue, then you have to just decide if you think getting rid of the bump would help you feel better about yourself.
Operations are always scarier before they happen. Recovery is generally not too bad, and they'll give you medicine to manage the pain. So if you want to do it, but you're afraid to just because you're nervous about surgery, then you'll probably be glad in the end if you go ahead and do it. But if you don't really want to and there's no medical need for it, then there's probably no harm in leaving it alone.

I'm sure you're beautiful even with a bumpy nose. smile However, do watch out for problems with health stuff. My father broke his nose as a child and it was severe enough to result in a deviated septum that he had to have repaired later in life, so if anything with your breathing happens or it gives you a lot of pain, I'd say definitely go in for it.
