Not everyone comes to Yukigakure, there is actually more than one village in Snow Country. Although instead of being known for shinobi, this place is known as a luxury resort and a town for tourists. Set in a fantastic location upon the mountain, the village boasts the best and most rejuvenating hot springs in the five nations, and that local resident Mrs. Takahashi makes a fantastic red bean soup, sold at a humble stall in the village square.
Yet the one more thing that Taira village capitalizes on is an activity known simply as sliding. Having watched certain animals move along the icy landscape, the people set to work making slopes. To slide upon these slopes, a person must either rent a toboggan or a special device made by the locals. It is shaped like a round shield, yet people can sit inside of it and slide right down the slopes. Braver or more skilled folks take to standing on these items and guiding where they wish to go.
It is a remnant from another time, from the Land of Snow. Otogakure residents instinctually know the way back to the far north, beyond even Kumo and their Cloud country, to where this location exists.
