So I have a small group of committed members in my GSA, so at the immediate moment I don't have TOO much of a problem there, but my question is... What is a really good topic of discussion to have at my next meeting? The biggest thing I've missed out on having them do this year is sitting down with a serious discussion that makes them think.
Can any of you lovely people help me out with suggestions? Please and thank you!

Well, today is national GSA day, first of all. You could talk about why people get bullied over homosexuality. Do some people bring it upon themselves? Are others just insecure with their sexuality? That kind of stuff!

Today, at our GSA, we had a long conversation about emotional vs. sexual attraction, and the difference between heterosexuality and being heteroromantic. We even had a guy in there who was homosexual but heteroromantic. He explained his problems with dating and stuff, as he wants to be in relationships with women, but he only wants sex with men. It was quite interesting. And being a heterosexual biromantic, we got to discuss issues in difficulty in dating due to them wanting sex when you're not sexually attracted to them, but are in love with them, emotionally.
Just a suggestion.

Today, we had a guest speaker and he talked about gender identity v.s. gender sexuality. It was very interesting. A few people are taking part in an interview he is conducting. One of those people is MusicallyObsessedBoi, who is a member of this guild.

something you can talk about is the significance of coming out (I want to know myself so I'm better aware of these things).

Damn, you guys have some awesome a** GSA's. I wish mine was half as productive as all of yours are. Keep up the great work people!
And Hearts, my suggestion would be to look for local LGBT events, such as an AIDS Walk. And try and get your club members to participate. It can be a lot of fun and you meet some really interesting people.

iSuper Emerald Well, today is national GSA day, first of all. You could talk about why people get bullied over homosexuality. Do some people bring it upon themselves? Are others just insecure with their sexuality? That kind of stuff! Eh??? O_O I fail as a president.... Why did I not know this? Actually I had club today and we could have discussed this... We definitely will next week, so thanks for the suggestiion! Fatestitcher Today, at our GSA, we had a long conversation about emotional vs. sexual attraction, and the difference between heterosexuality and being heteroromantic. Just a suggestion. Oh wow.... I never really realized there was a difference there, but it makes sense. I will see what the club members think about this!! ^ ^ ~~~ Luckily, today we decided on having an open-meeting (y'know, as in anyone from the school invited to attend) type discussion with the theme of "The Dangers of Ignorance" in a month. We planned on complimenting it with a scene from V for Vendetta... And we're having a food-supplied meet-and-greet event in a few weeks....~~~ iSuper Emerald Today, we had a guest speaker and he talked about gender identity v.s. gender sexuality. It was very interesting. A few people are taking part in an interview he is conducting. One of those people is MusicallyObsessedBoi, who is a member of this guild. Yeah, in a couple of weeks, I'm having a guest speaker come in about domestic violence. That gender identity v.s. gender sexuality topic sounds really interesting though! Hmmm.... Except I don't know anyone who could speak on it... Shadow Ra Warrior something you can talk about is the significance of coming out (I want to know myself so I'm better aware of these things). We actually have discussed that, but with only two bi members that have already come out but it hasn't worked particularly well (not BAD, just not well) there's only so far we can go with that conversation. I'll keep it in mind, though!! ^ ^

I will look for those events, and we are going to participate in the Day of Silence, but I live in a pretty conservative town, and I'm pretty sure (if memory serves me well) it didn't let the LGBT community have a Pride parade.... neutral I'll have to see what else we've got...

Ah, the Day of Silence. Hey, it's at least something. And pride parades aren't all they're cracked out to be. Yeah they're fun, and yes, the free condoms do come in handy, but they're just like any other parade, only sexier.

I guess I was hoping they'd be a leeeeeetle less...over the top(?) by now....Anyways, I just meant there's an extremely limited amount of options, community events-wise, y'know?
