Bluevirtue Sunshine Peach-Heart To be honest I haven't seen a lot of LGBT-themed movies. I hear Brokeback Mountain is good, of course, why wouldn't it be? Two very attractive men, Jake Gyllanhaal and Heath Ledger, play the leading couple. razz And La Cage aux Folles is hilarious from what I've heard, as well as it';s American remake The Birdcage. And those are really the only ones I can think of now... I tend to generally consider Brokeback Mountain overhyped. I mean, it's essentially "two guys cheat on their wives for decades on end but it's okay because they're both dudes." I mean, by the end of the movie it takes place in the 80s. They didn't need to hide their relationship like some dark secret anymore. There's places they could have gone to live a happy life together. neutral I haven't seen it so I can't really agree/disagree with you there. razz But the critics liked it and it was a box-office success, so I just figured. I'll have to see it to see if I can agree with you there.

I think it's somewhat difficult to find decently made LGBT movies. I know someone else posted it before me, but they either seem to be porn or not very well done. I believe so far in my search for interesting shows I've found a few that interest me.
1) Film adaptations of Sara Waters novels. Her novels are absolutely breathtaking I adore them. Some people might argue they follow a cliche romance, but in reality they simply follow the style they were created for and are wonderful Victorian model stories. She uses a form of writing people hardly use anymore (something similar to The Importance of Being Earnest) Currently I believe there are only three movie versions of her novels right now (unless you live in the U.K. then there shoudl be four). Affinity (lesbian), Tipping the Velvet (lesbian) and Fingersmith (lesbian) anddd The Nightwatch (out in the U.K. it is a lesbian, gay and bisexual piece.
2) Imagine me and You is one of my favorite lesbian films. It's modern a comedy, but it just has a little bit of a difference from the traditional to make it interesting.
3) Exs and Ohs is a Canadian t.v. show that to my knowledge is only two seasons. It's short, sweet but a very interesting show. I like it much better than the L Word and the characters are far more believable.
4) If you like general stereotypical comedy the Big Gay Sketch Show is pretty darn funny.
5) Fried Green Tomatoes. It's one of those classics here in the south everyone watches, but people honestly never knows it's a lesbian story. It's based off Flag's novel where the relationship is there and in the story she gives all the signals. The film version has hints of it, but they have changed it around to make it for a more mainstream audience. Changed or not it's still a beautiful story.
6) Boy's Don't Cry...;3; I love this transgender film even if it makes me cry everytime I see it.
7) Lastly a few randomly decent films, but not over the top awesome. Gray matters, Gia, Girl Play and The Kids are Alright. I know most people hate The Kids are Alright, and I disliked it at first. Then I kinda let the idea sink in and there is def a deeper meaning there you don't get the first time.
I saw someone mention Lost and Delerious a good film, but absolutely nothing like the book. I find it strange how different they are.
Sorry I know pretty much all my suggestions are lesbian in nature...but well you know I like those the most so ;3;
