"Merlyn litte sister. I just hatch. You big sister. You hatch before." Then her own stomach growled and she stomped her hind feet, sighing as her roots started to pull nutrients from the soil. Merlyn then saw her sister make a strange face. "What wrong?"

Kiki jumped off of Merlyn and ran back towards the hole in the door, slowly peeking out to see if the large creature was still there before running out and finding a nice soft patch of grass to dig her roots into and sit in the sun to absorb some sunlight and enjoy the nutrients of the soil.

The two would not wake up until moments after the ruckus occured. The first to awaken was a silent spirit, one who look dumbfounded in the world around her. She remained laying on her side, unable to comprehend her existence quite yet until her tongue slithered out to...taste the air. Exploding into color now did Eve understand where she was and what was happening. She tolled to her stomach and tried to stand on what she could apparently understand were legs, the vehicle in which Eve would continue to use for the rest of her life. She stood, though unable to balance herself and fell. Unable to walk on all fours, she found it best to just sit on her behind, her tail wagging about ever so slowly. Eventually she would stand, like most of her brethren, and her eyes would adjust to the darkness.
"Who... Is there?" Her own small voice suprised her, so much so that she happened back and landed back on her butt. Eventually, she stood after much effort and looked around, hearing the squeaking of her siblings. She could also hear one closer to her, one that still lay sleeping in the hay.


Ren did not awaken quite yet, much due to his disturbing dreams. Only did a rustle of the hay near his head did he open his dark eyes. It was pitch black and he feared in being blind except when he could make out a figure. She was what Ren would come to know as his twin, the one sibling he would have the closest bond. He squirmed a bit, unable to use his limbs until his brain figured to stretch his muscles. Ren would stand, wobbly, but take his first hop and look around for the rest of his brethren. He and his sister did not have to introduce themselves to one another. They knew each other since birth, since their creation of being put into the same egg. He felt a certain reliance on her, where she would be the more dominant of the two as she stood, taller than the rest ( since she is standing on two legs ).
He stretched out his wings, they fluttered about but Ren would not know what to do with them quite yet and let them fold back as he looked around to see who would answer his sister's question.

Merlyn, given her larger size and perfect eyesight was able to spot two of her older siblings as they awoke. She made a happy sound that sounded almost like the soothing tunes of a slow beautiful flute, and then she stood on all sixes and moved closer. She saw her older brother had a beak just like she did and she gasped. "You have beak like Merlyn!" She towered over her older brother, and she wasn't even rearing up on her hind legs. she seemed to be in awe of him, and the fact he has a beak too. She just couldn't believe it. then she giggled and when she noticed the other twin, one of her older sisters, she moved closer and tried to snuggle.

Kiki continued to sit happily in the sun before opening her eyes to see a strange insect hovering around her head, obviously attracted by her smell, she backed up a little bit, the insect following after her before she tilted her head to the side. "Hello mr buzzy thing...."

Athena finished gorging herself and, slightly heavier and noticeably darker in coloration, wandered back into the barn and straight into the middle of a meeting of her kin. Two new ones - two final ones, a certain knowledge informed her - were among the four now there. One of the new kin was scaled, the other somewhat covered in downy fur like Buddy-brother, who had wandered off into the fields. That one worried her. His mouth was well-suited for piercing her shell, if they angered one another.

A dragonfly hovered over the rippling surface of the pond, midges buzzing around it as it chased after groups of them and minnows swimming underneath, oblivious to its presence. It had been this way for time out of mind, and would have continued in this fundamentally stable state, had not a new creature been introduced to the ecosystem.

Reos was ecstatic as could be. He was graceful and beautiful in this, his element, moreso than he ever was or would be outside of it. His form twisted sinuously through the water, and the other creatures - not yet knowing that he was their new top predator - did not run as he snapped them up to feed his hunger. He leaped from the water, spinning through the air in an adrenalin-fueled moment of impulsiveness. The sunlight sparkled off the water and his scales, and the majesty of the situation was quite ruined when he accidentally swallowed a dragonfly and started choking on it.

After a minute of hacking, safely underwater where his dignity was preserved, Reos reflected that it had actually been quite tasty.

In the waters of the pond, the sandly floor shifted. Something wasn't right. Something was there that didn't belong. Something that wasn't friendly. It whipped up a dust cloud under the water and then as the dust settled a pair of eyes became clearly visible. Eyes that were staring right at reos.

Reos was chasing after a fish when he noticed something larger than himself. It was underneath the bottom of the pond, and the eyes he could see looked... almost like his own, actually. Probably one just as graceful as himself. He flicked his tail and turned to make his way towards the new being.

The being was not happy that Reos was in the pond. "Get out of my territory!!!!!" a voice erupted toward Reos' ears. Then the creature lifted his entire body up off the bottom of the pond, sand falling off off of him, His twin tentacle tails remaining still behind him. he was patiently waiting for reos to get lost and to leave the water. He clearly defined the water of the pond as his territory.

Reos reared back in disgust, the earlier dragonfly apparently trying to escape from his insides. Reos couldn't fathom why this might be the case, the being before him wasn't anything to go to such efforts to see. The creature was... like him, but not. Almost as if someone had made a copy of him and taken out all that made him graceful and... himself. Reos fled with all speed, not because of the creature's words but because he could almost feel himself growing more heinous just by being so close to such a thing.

Minutes later, hiding among some thick parts of a plant that grew next to the stream, Reos decided that he would have to see about getting his kin together. Something like that couldn't be suffered to live. It was so... so ugly.

Eve then lifted her head, whipping around to peak at her other two siblings. Her tongue whispered out, to taste the air before she lowered her eyes to their bodies. They were so different from her own, except perhaps Merlyn, and lowered her head completely as she walked rather hesitantly to her two sisters. One got close to her, startling Eve as she flinched and stumbled backwards, watching in awe at her siblings before getting up once again with some amount of difficulty. She opened her jaw, which revealed rows of sharp, tiny teeth and fangs, before snapping it shut and glanced at her brother, Ren, who stood there a little dumbfounded. "Eve." She stepped forward, no longer reluctant, before nodding her head, motioning to Ren. "Ren."


Ren finally livened up and he ruffled his feathers, spying Merlyn who seemed to take him by suprise. She surely was livelier than his other sister, noticeably one very odd. Why did she have so many legs? What were they for? Ren found himself staring and shook his head. He glanced around the barn before looking at his three sisters. "Where are the others?" Ren knew that much. There were more of his siblings, and he could sense them. Ren's feathers ruffled again as he looked at the three different sisters, yet similar in essence.

Merlyn moved to snuggle with ren, Wanting his company above all others. He had a beak, he was her true brother. She was the younger sibling of them all, but he was the one she felt closest to.

Outside a shadow fell over Reos, and then a large figure landed in front of him, a figure easily the size of merlyn with a wing span twice it's body length. The looks would be familiar to Reos. Then a familiar squeaky voice said, "Reos Brother, why you no have limbs?" Then a cloud moved out of the way and light fell upon the figure. It was buddy, but he was much too large to have been the same squirt from earlier. The truth was it was him. His metabolism put as much food energy as possible toward physical growth. He had apparently found significant food of high value.

Reos cocked his head to one side as the current tugged at him beneath the roots where he had stopped. "Limbs? As of a tree? What... ah. The unsightly growths you require to move with. My form is the more graceful for their absence."

That Buddy ought to have grown so much so quickly was not strange to Reos. After all, there were many mysteries regarding his kin. Rapid growth might be one of their characteristics.

Kiki watched as the small insect flew past herand she slowly began to follow it, smiling and bouncing around behind it, stopping after bumping into something large. She fell back, sitting down before looking up to see Buddy for the first time before widening her eyes and quickly jumping up to her feet and quickly running away, hiding herself behind a tree, peering around its trunk to look at both buddy and Reos. both of who she had not yet met with.
