He could see the end of the course, the top of the hill, he was almost there! A last snap of his tail, a low roar, wings tucked close to his sides, his postured held low, Sheridan summoned all of his strength and charged up the hill at full speed.
A strike near his right, too close for comfort, but he would not be fazed, leaping out of its path without missing a beat, without slowing down. Left, right, roll, oh jack jump back! He dodged each strike, refusing to give in, refusing to falter, he was going to make it through this course, jack damn it!
He was nearly exhausted as he reached the end of the course, his feet at last reached the top of the hill and carrying him out of range of the lightning strikes. He had done it, he had one! His wings spread, his jaws parted, he threw his head back and roared in victory!
Take that thunder road, TAKE THAT!
