Wow, intense stuff. Good read, though! I've also heard about the theories involving oxygenation back then compared to now.
I just wonder how they figured the age of Adam. I don't think it mentions it in the Bible. Although, if it does - correct me if I'm wrong.
I think it's rather interesting, though, that people back then had longer life spans. It's really interesting surprised but then again, God didn't originally design us to die and then the fall of man happened and life spans have decreased ever since.

Even if God didn't use any of these methods it show that it is not impossible and not as incredible as some tend to argue. The theories leave open a door to faith that some people wish to shut. Making the Bible untrustworthy removes a witness about Jesus. Like Jesus said: John 5:46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

That's so awesome! biggrin If he would've lived a few decades longer - he could've been just as old or older than Methuselah surprised thanks for the verses biggrin And yeah, definitely! Some people want to claim it impossible that a human could live that long and they try to discredit it all. The theory of evolution itself discredits it because evolution thinks we were stupid and then got smarter over time. Although, that's not the case (if it was, by now we'd probably have gills to breathe underwater or wings to fly razz ) and it's sad that people have to think inside the box.

It seems to me that they claim the size of someones cranium determines their intellect, or their bone structure. These humans that supposedly are lower on the evolutionary latter then us has some great advantages over us. Such as for-example strength. To me it seems more like we are devolving. Also mutations. How can something that is so devastating to an organism bring about a positive change even over time? No problem at all. ^^

It does seem more like "devolving" because of rare genetic disorders, intentional and non-intentional mutations, etc. We were always people with brains that thought and acted in a specific manner. Some people are smarter than others, but Adam & Eve started out with a fully functional brain. In that sense, it's kind of a curious thought what types of inventions they made back then that we didn't know about because of the flood, or the burning of records that took place many times in history. It's an interesting thought on the matter.

I wish I had a reference for this.... I'm working on it. But I've read that the old ages that Old Testament figures lived to have something to do with the Babylonian number system. Meaning that, for instance, saying that Methuselah lived to be 969 years old is the modern day equivalent of saying he lived to be a bajillion. Basically: the number itself is symbolic of meaning "a really long time".
And who's to say that genetic mutations are all bad? As late as the early 1900's, I would have been put in a mental asylum for the mental disorders I have. Now that diagnoses of certain mental disorders are becoming more common, society is moving towards accepting people like me. "Disorders" (which I put in quotation marks because some- like me- consider their disorders to be a gift) like ADD and depression are becoming so common, almost everyone either has it, is affected by it, or knows someone who is affected by it. At what point does it quit being a disorder and start being the new normal?
