Given as I don't think the others are really about right now (or have not yet seen this), how about this:
Maeryn and Demon have a roleplay in which Demon does tell Maeryn about the rumors he heard of, etc etc.
As far as being used, well, I don't think Maeryn's really keen on being used for any purpose. Coming onto an Elder's land and attempting to use her resources for his own gain is not going to go over well. However, bringing information as a sort of buy in, if you will, might go over better.
I'm trying to wrap my head around this plot, and I'm just not really sure what you'd like to accomplish? You said you would like him to become an ally, I think, but if he's unlikely to go out hunting for the sake of a herd he's not a part of, how is this going to lead to his becoming an ally?
