Blood Frenzy in Open Water
☽☥☾ Nickname:
Frenzy Age:
17
Skills:
He has an amazing sense of direction and can't get lost, even in low visibility. Apperance Description:
Aside from the clawed hands, he has a long tail in medium blue with fins shading to a slight purple at the edges, similar to the plum tint in his hair. He also has scars, mostly along his upper arms, from where he brushed against the sharp coral and didn't notice. Likes:
☑ hunting ☑ nighttime ☑ the colour blue
Dislikes:
☒ pushy vegetarians ☒ being embarassed (he can't laugh it off) ☒ the taste of mammals
Personality:
He's very brash and outgoing, but insecure about himself. He doesn't take teasing well. He makes friends easily, but tends to make enemies quicker, and says a few nasty things, so he learned to swim pretty quickly. Biography:
Frenzy thinks his full name is stupid, but his guardian encourages it. He's always been the child of bloodthirsty hunters, and he inherited that taste. He just can't stand mammals - their taste, that is. He's rather good friends with a few dolphins and whales, when they aren't hunting him down. He hunts with a handmade dagger, but he had someone else make his spear for him. He was never that bored. He has always had to hunt for his own meals, so he's used to his independence. He's also one of the faster messengers in the community - at least at night. Guardians:
His current guardian is a tiger shark named Avens. He likes to think his guardian's chosen name means something.

One Who Sees All but Nothing
☽♎☾ Nickname:
Noth. Age:
15.
Skills:
Noth is an exceptional hunter considering the fact that he is blind. By feeling the ripples, and vibrations in the water he is able to sense prey in places no one else would even look. Apperance Description:
Well besides from the fact that he has a five foot long silver tail. He also, has three inch claws. Likes:
☑ Angle fish. ☑ Sarcasm. ☑ Hunting.
Dislikes:
☒ People asking him 'did you see that?'. ☒ To much surrounding movement. It confuses his senses. ☒ Squealing.
Personality:
Noth tends to stay away from the other Merfolk due to his... Disability. He doesnt like it when people pity, or critisize him because of the fact he is blind. Putting all of that aside he acts just like any other teenager with the addition of him being a bit more tolerant of people's stuppidity. Biography:
Like most Merfolk he became a Merman when his rel parents tryed to drown him with his older sister Fin. But, unlike everyone else his parents for some reason desided to blind him first by putting ammonia in his eyes. Why they had done this he didnt know. All he knows is that it has made his life hell. Guardians:
An Angelfish named Angelica.

Blood Frenzy in Open Water
☽☥☾ A warm current cut through the water above the merman. He looked up at the moving water distrustfully - the currents had been less and less reliable, what with those fishing boats coming out every other day or so. It was, after all, unsafe to run into the humans. Not that he cared. Avens didn't either, which was precisely why Frenzy didn't go after the humans unless he needed to.
The last human he'd killed... he had to think long and hard about that one. It couldn't have been more than two weeks ago, but that was such a long time for someone who had previously been encouraged to attack any and every human they came across. How times changed.
The thing was, he wasn't named after a blood frenzy for nothing. He liked the idea of attack, he liked the idea of pulling the intruders into his sphere of control, and he especially had liked to hunt alongside his previous guardians. This was his test period for Avens, to be truthful; he'd just changed guardians a month or so ago, and he was hoping this shark could accept him as the horribly contrary person he was. So many couldn't.
Frenzy voted against taking the current in past the reef and instead took the longer route, swimming fiercely as quickly as he could - which was pretty damn fast, if he didn't say so himself. As he passed a few homes of the other merfolk, he slowed and looked around. Some of them lived in a kind of community with the others, a mutual existence based on peace, prosperity, and the concept of despising the human intruders.
"Hah, he scoffed, not even realising he was broadcasting his words to the immediate realm around him. "Like they have the hearts to despise anyone. Idiots." If anyone despised the humans, he thought, it had to be the ones whose guardians were veritably hunted, the ones who had to live with the fact that they couldn't spend enough time with one fish looking after them. The ones who were told once a year that their guardian had been pulled out of the ocean by a hook in their jaw.
He started swimming again, slower now, trying to pace himself so he'd get to work just after everyone else. Then he noticed a glimmer on silver - but what wasn't silver in the ocean? - that caught his eye. Looking to the side, Frenzy grinned maniacally and clenched one hand into a fist. He knew this one, this one other merman that had never seemed as boring as the rest. What fun this would be.
"Hey, you!" he directed at the younger boy. "You, yeah, you. You're interesting. Want to come to work with me?" Frenzy loved interesting people; not that he bothered using names at all, either. Names, he believed, were useless drivel designed by those who wanted to embarrass others. That was all his name was, after all, he thought.
Besides, work was boring. People at work were boring most of the time. Others, though, were... a bit of a mystery. Mysteries in themselves weren't interesting to Frenzy, but he could live with them if it meant finding someone with more depth to them than the colour of their tail.

Blood Frenzy in Open Water
☽☥☾ Frenzy grinned his deathly smile at the kid, even if the strange little thing couldn't see it, and rolled his shoulders loose. "So, your mama telling you to get along with the other children?" he teased. "Come on, it's not so bad. I'll keep you right by my side the whole time. I've seen you, you don't get out hardly enough, not like the rest of us."
He cast a look above at the softly-flowing waters near the surface. "Just..." He didn't want to betray his own uncertainty in these waters, especially not to someone who might take the chance to tear him apart. It was what he did, after all, his job, his terrain. Frenzy was usually the one tearing apart flesh, emotions, past. "Stick with me, kid. The name's Frenzy. Just Frenzy, please, nothing else." He interlocked his hands behind him and stretched back, popping his spine carefully. Didn't want to strain or stretch something that ought not have been put that way. Sure, stretching was good for a messenger who had to be lithe and lethal in treacherous waters, but any kind of overextension could put him out of service for a week or more.
"So, you're in, right? You've got a pretty guardian; it's a surprise she's lived long enough to get colour like that." He took Noth by the shoulder and faced him towards their destination, the hole-in-the-wall office on the edge of the actual reef. "The fishermen are out in full force lately," he said chattily, "so it's a wonder we've got any business at all, you know, especially since we're supposedly 'valuable'." He swam slowly towards the reef, making sure Noth was still there. "But listen, I'll keep you alive today. If only because we really don't need another clash with your little fishes."

Blood Frenzy in Open Water
☽☥☾ "What?" Frenzy looked at Noth scathingly. "Me? Eat angelfish? They're stringy, you know. Haven't tasted one in years, certainly not around this place." He smirked and shook his head. "If I tasted any of your guardian's sisters, I'd be dead, trust me. My guardians don't let me eat anything they don't approve of, especially this new one." He rolled his eyes. "Come on. I do have to work today. They kind of need me." He lithely swam towards the reef, keeping half of his attention on Noth as much as he could.
Noth. Nothing. What kind of a short form was that? Frenzy scoffed at it; whatever it was, it had to be worse than his own, if that kid was hesitating to divulge it. In his moving around in circles around the segments of the huge reef, he'd met plenty of Dives and Currents and Reefs, but never a Nothing. Whoever would saddle someone with a name like that after their first guardianship was one hell of a monster. After all, making someone go by Nothing was almost like deeming them not more than just that.
But he had to focus. There was bound to be trouble between the messengers today - it had been brewing between a pair of males, two whose names Frenzy couldn't remember, an emerald-tailed jerk and a bronze-tailed one, for ages. The storm had to break soon, or someone would go crazy, and they definitely did not need to call the Witch out for a crazed merman. She surely got enough of those calls a year.
He glanced back at Noth and smiled softly, breaking it a second later to glance around in paranoia. If anyone saw him being actually kind and giving some blind kid the chance to get into society, like they'd dare throw him out with Frenzy around, his reputation as being very unprotective of anyone but himself would be ruined.
Besides, he wasn't really protecting Noth, was he? More like throwing him into even more danger by making him move about more. If anything, danger could always strike on a message run, be it storm currents or fishing boats. And if there were any nets on his routes today, he could be in serious trouble, especially if Blindy got caught up in them. He'd have to keep an extra-sharp eye out - his claws might be sharp, but they couldn't cut through the braided nets as easily as he liked. It would take him a minute or two, and the fishermen could react by then, pulling one of them up into the air and parading them as some sort of exotic catch...
Dammit, no. That would not happen. Frenzy shuddered and realised he'd stopped in the middle of a thought, then shook his head to clear it. Work to be done, work to be done. Once again he checked around for Noth, as he'd taken it at the kid's word that he could guide himself. Why did he always have to be the one saddled with the extra baggage? First a guardian change, now this. If Frenzy could sigh underwater, he would have. As it was, he settled for allowing waves of exasperated energy to roll off of him.
