Customs here at Modifoxes are usually opened every one or two months! How to get a custom slot will vary, so keep your eyes on the main thread to see if the shop's colorists have announced any openings.

Please remember that staff have lives outside of the shop, so if you're caught complaining about the wait, an extra week will be added on from when your pet was "due"!

As of 2021, the shop has switched over to a PWYW (Pay What You Want) system!


Minor Edits: Just like an ordinary custom, but with a change or two. Minor edits are things such as simple jewelry, a piece of clothing, smaller items, etc. Expression changes are also fine. Think small and simple.

Moderate Edits: This is a pet with a few more edits than usual. A jacket/shirt, edited tails/ears/hair, hats, scarves, masks, accessories, jewelry, etc. For me, this is either two to three larger edits, or a few small/simple ones.

Heavy Edits: A custom with a lot of changes. I'm talking more than four larger/complex edits. A heavy edit pet can have just about as many items as a cosplay can, maybe even more. These are things like fully edited hair, multiple items, layers of clothing, major lineart changes, etc. Did I mention that these guys have a lot of edits? Lots of edits. Their edits are usually more numerous or more complicated than usual.


We know things can get a little confusing, especially if you're just starting off, so here's a small run down of the different custom types available. Generally, the only type of pet unavailable via customs is Higher Beings (Modeities).

Semi-Customs: You get to specify up to three colors for the colorist to use, but no specific markings/patterns/etc. The colorist chooses the rest.

Customs: You tell the colorist exactly what you want the pet to look like, and the colorist will make the pet to your design.

Unedited: The colorist will make the pet to your design, but there are no further additions made. No items, accessories, different hair styles, etc.

Edited: The colorist will make the pet to your design and you can have additions made. Things like items, accessories, different hair styles, etc.

Cosplays: A pet edited and colored to look like one of your favorite characters. Please make sure to check the shop's list of cosplays before ordering!

While customers are allowed to order a lot of things, there are certain traits and edits that aren't allowed! If you have a question about whether or not something would be allowed, please feel free to PM the mule, Modifox.

Pets that break these rules may, on very rare occasions, be given out by staff via events.

Cosplays can't be based on actual people.

• We've done this a few times in the past, but no more. No RL actors, band members, youtube stars, etc. You can't order a Tom Hiddleston or Chris Hemsworth pet, sorry!

No hybrids.

• We don't do hybrids! Later on down the line, if they went to breed with another fox, they... wouldn't be able to, since we don't have a hybrid category for them to fall under in the breeding guide (we probs won't be making one because then things would get really complicated during breedings). You can place the sledfox harnesses, nails, and muzzle spots onto other species, but other than that, there's no major mixing and matching. A pet wouldn't be able to have both a sledfox tail and pixie wings, for example.

No extra limbs (arms, legs, ears, etc.)

• Your pet cannot have an extra set of arms, four pairs of ears, or anything like that.
  
• Extra tails are allowed. As long as it's not a ridiculous amount (no foxes with 30 tails or anything!), you should be good (Example: this girl).
  
• Extra eyes are allowed. As long as there aren't eyes on every single inch of the body, you should be good (Example: this girl).

No changing the eye style.

• Some basic changes to the eyes are totally fine (Examples: cat eyes, different expressions, etc.), but the general style of the eye should not change. Basically, no big anime eyes or anything like that.

No extra heads/removing the pet's head.

• You can have the face and head edited, but you cannot remove it completely or add extra heads. No pets running around without their heads and no three-headed pets, sorry folks!

No removing/replacing a majority of the body.

• You cannot remove the upper or lower half of the body or replace it with something else. Basically, no nagas, centaurs, mermaids, etc. (Example: this girl, a cosplay from when the shop was first started).

Wing edits on species outside of 'Phims and 'Daevas are restricted in size and ability.

• Since 'Phims and 'Daevas are the official "flying species" of the shop, wing edits on all other species are only allowed to be so large and are capable of very little. "The most they're capable of is fluttering, hovering in one spot, and gliding a few feet, but they aren't able to actually fly around!" Restricted in size, they're allowed to be no bigger than the wings of a Pixie (Examples: a female Pixie and an edited Regular female). Small head wings and ankle wings are allowed on all pets. However, a pet cannot fly with them.

You cannot ask for non-standard wings as edits for Modiphims and Modidaevas.

• The feathered and demonic wings are the major traits that define the 'Phim and 'Daeva breeds, so removing them completely or swapping them out for a totally different set of wings (Example: a 'Phim with demonic wings.) for customs/bribes/etc. isn't allowed. 'Phims and 'Daevas with this type of edit are only given away during shop events, and very rarely! You can ask for edits like tattered wings and scarring, but you can't remove or swap the default wings.

You cannot have more than one pair of wings.

• Pets with more than one set of wings are extremely rare and only given out through shop events.

Seasonal Breeds cannot be customed outside of their "months".

• They can, however, be obtained when bribes are open, since bribes open very rarely! The "Seasonal months" are:
  - Sledfoxes: December, January, and February.
  - Pixies: March, April, and May.
  - Carousels: June, July, August.
