She had never been to the Haunted House before. The horsewoman had heard of it, but she had only bothered to actually go there just now. To Jay, it didn’t sound like much of a fun place. It didn’t very fun either. The only redeeming point of the large house was that sometimes one could find hunters walking inside. The warrior guessed it was for some patrol business or something because why would humans come to the Haunted House for giggles? But she was curious anyway, so when she stumbled upon the mysterious corridor she dove right in.

Although her steps were soft, her sandals still creaked against the old floorboards as she strode down the hallway. Sometimes she would reach for a door and peer inside. Each one was different. Some appeared to be a normal room, others not so much. Her ears picked up footsteps that weren’t hers. Rather than fight in a narrow hall, Jay opted to slide into the nearest room she could find and wait. Maybe the other person would come in. Maybe they wouldn’t. The only thing to do now was to wait.

This was the second time the black dog had been invited to the haunted house by the mysterious appearing corridor. Though unlike the last time, what he found at the other end wasn't a hunter, but a four clan's member. Peachy.

As soon as he realized what Jay was, his face took on a darker expression. He didn't like, nor trust four clan members. The fact that Madea had branded them and tempted several students into joining her side, didn't help their case. But if anything made him truly wary of them, it was the fact that he had seen something to make him distrust them. Something that Madea herself had shown them.

"Lost?" He asked, but remained at the opposite side of the room.

What appeared was not the familiar, fleshy face of a human or the white and gold coat of a hunter, but an Amityville student. Her eyes grew wide with confusion as she cocked her head at the canine. Jay’s gaze flicked to the wispy tail and glowing eyes. Interesting. The warrior did not answer Tybalt at first. She took her sweet time examining him from head to toe. Lips stretched into a grin once she concluded this student was quite strong, perhaps even more skilled than herself.

“Not really,” she answered at last, her colorful wings rustling. Smiling and jewelry jingling, Jay pointed at Tybalt. “You. Have a spar with me. You look strong. I like it.” She stretched out her wings and after a slight pause she added, “I am Jay.”

Tybalt watched her warily from where he stood. She looked surprised to see him there. Which meant she must have been looking for one of those hunters to fight. Somehow that didn't surprise him.

"Why would I want to spar with you?" He asked. To be honest, he wasn't that interested in fighting today. The only reason he had continued down the corridor instead of turning around and going back in the first place, was because he wanted to make sure that there was no hunters attacking other students. But this wasn't a hunter.

"Tybalt." He answered, returning the greeting.

Jay blinked. “Because I asked for a spar?” On the war isle, it was common for the horsemen to spar with each other. It wasn’t uncommon to reject one, but that was usually because they were tending to other business. They were War, after all. Fighting was what they did. There was no reason for Tybalt to refuse the request. They were alone in the Haunted House. There was no immediate threat. There must have been a reason why he had decided to walk into the corridor. Wasn’t it for a fight?

“You were looking for a fight, weren’t you? What else do you do in the Haunted House?” She cocked her head to the side, holding an arm out to summon her weapon. Once Jay grasped the handle, she immediately released it and threw it at Tybalt.

"Not exactly." He answered. True, by coming here he was expecting a battle. But it wasn't quite for the same reasons that the horseman thought. Tybalt had been coming here to chase off the hunters and to make sure no other students were getting into mischief. He wasn't coming here for the sake of fighting.

Tybalt eyed the weapon warily as it appeared in her hands. He had hoped that it wouldn't come down to a fight, but it didn't appear that she would simply let him walk away either. In fact--

Too quick to dodge it, the weapon bit into his shoulder with enough force that it actually knocked the black dog back. Fortunately, he was able to regain control, and instead of smashing into the wall, like he would have done a couple years back, he used it; pushing off of it instead and leaping back at her. Lucky for him, he had practiced enough times that this had become routine move and as soon as he was within striking range, he was able to bring down his fist hard on her.

The dagger didn’t hit quite as hard as she had hoped, but at least it met its intended target. Unsurprisingly, once the blade left her fingertips she rushed forward for a speedy follow up. However, Jay hadn’t expected the student to bounce back so quickly. Sea green eyes widened slightly as she watched the canine use the wall to add more force to his jump. It appeared the counter was natural for Tybalt, judging by the slick movements.

The fist connected with her face, stopping the horsewoman in her tracks. She could feel her cheek began to throb with pain, but it was a familiar sensation; she even welcomed the tiny needles of pain prickling her skin. It was simple for the warrior to recompose herself and attack again, but a funny thought struck her. She was a horseman of war. She used to be better than this. The Clans used to be grander than this, but now it was so easy for a student to take her on? The bluejay felt a twinge of envy for his skills. Maybe even hate—at him, herself, the clans, the hunters, everything.

Jay took a deep breath and winced as she touched her cheek. The punch didn’t have enough power to deal this much impact on her body. Something was off. Narrowed eyes surveyed the room.

Biting back harsh words, she mustered out, “You’re good.” Calmly, she motioned with her hands for Tybalt to strike a second time.

Tybalt landed opposite to her and winced when it jarred his shoulder. With the distance between the two of them again, he was able to check it and found that it wasn't a serious wound. It would heal in due time. But it hurt, regardless, and careless movements were only going to make it worse.

Fortunately for him, the second attack was postponed as Jay inspected her own injury.

"Guess the training is finally paying off." He answered, matching her glare with his own. Despite her compliment, he could see the hate in her eyes. She hated him. Though it didn't matter, because really, he didn't care much for her, or her kind either.

Jay cocked her head to the side as she listened to his answer. The hate boiling in the horseman had mostly simmered down. She coolly observed the dog through slightly narrowed eyes. “As long as you’re diligent in your work, of course it will,” she murmured. She shifted her gaze to the dagger embedded into the wall. Sighing, the weapon dissipated and reformed in her own hand. “Must be ‘nice’ to go to ‘school.’ How is it? ‘Fun’?”

She played with her weapon, spinning the handle around her wrist before she brought the dagger back into the palm of her hand and threw a second time.

Tybalt was tempted to add a snide remark, it wasn't like her recent comment warranted one. Though--

His expression darkened. Was she mocking him?

"Why not enroll and find out for yourself?" He growled back before the dagger flew at him again, hitting him in the leg this time.

To be honest, he wasn't sure nice was the word he would use to describe attending Amityville. Sure it was great meeting all the different people, but it had its ups and downs. One thing for certain, he had never experienced this much pain before coming to this school.

Jay smiled softly. It was difficult to tell if she genuinely meant her comment or really was mocking the canine student. “I don’t think the headmistress would be too pleased to see a horseman attending classes.” There was no reaction from the horsewoman when the blade got Tybalt in the leg. After a moment, the dagger reappeared in her hands and she threw it at him once again.

“Tell me, if you weren’t looking for a fight why did you come to the Haunted House?” The bluejay cocked her head curiously and for a moment the cool hate melted away. It was easier to see the wide eyes and the soft edges of her face. The childish glow in her eyes were more noticeable.

The black dog let out a snarl as the dagger bit into him again. The fact that it was like a part of her and returned to her like a faithful hound was irritating. Normally he would have just snatched it and tossed it away from her, where it couldn't touch him. But with this method, he couldn't.

These horsemen and their weapons were truly irritating.

"Just for a little house cleaning." His words were sarcastic, but he was speaking the truth, more or less. He was clearing the haunted house of possible danger after all. Speaking of which--

The black dog vanished from sight, using his invisibility to allow him to move in closer, undetected. It wasn't until he managed to sneak around behind and into a blind spot that he reappeared in his natural form and bit down hard, into her flesh.

Her lips twitched into an amused smile. House cleaning. That was a cute way of putting it. “Any luck with tha—“ Jay’s words were cut off as Tybalt disappeared from view. It wasn’t that she blinked one moment and he was gone, too quick for the warrior to register. He had vanished, period. Her fist clenched and unclenched as she bent her knees and spread her arms out while she scanned the room for any signs of movement or flickering shadows. She summoned her dagger again and held it tightly. The only warning she received was the intense spark of pain in her shoulders, the undeniable feeling of teeth biting into flesh.

She reacted instantaneously, flipping her dagger so the blade was down. Jay drove her weapon into Tybalt and kicked him away for good measure. A hand gripped her shoulders and she eyed the dog through narrowed eyes, then appeared to revert to her usual bubbly self—something the student likely hadn’t seen until now. “Well! It seems you have a choice now! You can finish me off or we can both leave the house! It’s your choice.”

That was the fourth time that blasted dagger had been driven into his body!

With a sharp hiss of breath, the black dog was torn off, shredding her shoulder in the process, and backed away. Or at least, long enough to put some distance between them before he lunged for her again. Fortunately for Jay, her foot connected with his chest long before he could reach her and kept the black dog at bay.

"Choice?" He growled irritably. He wanted to see this through! After all, it was her who had insisted on this fight in the first place! However, his anger, to be honest, was directed more at the four clans as a whole rather than this particular little scuffle. Were Jay not of the four clan's, he might not have been angry at all.

Damn it..!

"Fine. Have it your way." He grumbled out and turned away, walking back down the corridor he had come from. Now wasn't the time to be making enemies anyways. So really, there was no need to jump the gun.

The corner of her lips twitched, her grip on her shoulders tightening. “This was a spar,” she answered matter-of-factly at Tybalt’s confusion. “There is a slight difference between spar and fight, in my vocabulary anyways. I don’t know about yours. Perhaps—” Jay stopped midsentence as she realized she had been about to launch into one of her useless ramblings.

She smiled sweetly. “I will.” The hand still on her shoulders, Jay began to head for the door and past Tybalt. Her eyes widened just as she walked by him and chirped, “Tell Isra I said hi, okay? Tell him I finished growing the roses! They’re very pretty.”
