Soren frowned at the colt, making another useless swipe with his blade after he took the blow, a decently solid one to the face. "You one of the beserkers?" He knew those weird types that were roused by fighting, finding a rather abnormal pleasure in it. It would be just his luck to find one of those.

He'd compared that FEAR thing he did sometimes to berserking once or twice in his head—the scary one where he occasionally lost control of himself in exchange for more power—but it wasn't a favorable comparison by any means. Was seeking out fist fights and grinning through the blood left on his teeth after getting punched in them the same thing as losing all self control? Maybe to those just looking at him they appeared the same, but to West they were not.

"No... I jus'..." He frowned, striking Soren again. "Fightin's fun. An' it stops me thinkin' 'bout everythin' that sucks." Like hunters. And horseman marks. And tentacles.

If Soren had only known was he was thinking about he could have told him that really, tentacles could be fun too.

Soren took the blow, thinking about what he had said. He knew enough that felt that way, that fighting was fun, to know that this boil was not too weird. But he preferred the hunt, chasing down his enemies and then the feeling of satisfaction when he bested them, more than the actual fighting.

But keeping busy to not think about the bad, that he understood. "Fair enough." He punched at the colt, determined to keep him on his toes. If it was a fight he wanted Soren was not just going to hand over a victory.

The horseman's knuckles slammed into West's butt cheek, hard enough that the boil tasted his own bitter blood in its wake. Enough banter, if what they had been engaging in could have even been called that. It was time to end this fight.

The demon took advantage of Soren's nearness, putting most of his strength behind his swinging fist as he struck again.

Soren did not like being fisted punched by the student. He did not like it because he had to admit it was a strong, well aimed blow, and he was much too close for comfort to admitting that a student, pesky student, was wearing him down.

So Soren acted as the adult, reaching out quickly with the palms of his hands and simply shoved West away from him.

"Don't... push," West muttered, pushing Soren in return. He was just beginning to feel run down by all of this, and even though he had expected to be pummeled senseless by any horsemen he fought, it still chafed.

So he pushed him again.

The boil stumbled back with a huff, his face distorted by a pouting grimace. He was tired, and sick of this bullshit.

"I'm sick o'this bullshit," he said, at a loss as to what to do once he had made this grand proclamation. On the one hand, Soren seemed to be nearly as done with this fight as he was, but on the other... it was still going on.

Soren looked at him, unimpressed, amused, or emotional in any way.

"Than yield." It was a simple solution really. Or, well, there was an easier one. "I'll take the choice from you." His blade summoned and he lashed out, putting his weight into the blow, red eyes watching the colt without mercy.

Ow. West stumbled back under the force of the blow, losing his balance and falling to the ground. His teeth clicked together sharply as he landed, and he grimaced. He'd been doing well, he thought, but now his FEAR shield was gone and he didn't want to play anymore.

"Yeah, fine. I'm done," he sighed. For a moment, the boil glared up at the horseman, a flash of anger that was stronger than usual clouding his mind. He knew it was useless to give in, as much as he might like to. Instead, he pushed himself back to his feet, pressing his fingers to the shallow cut on his chest. "Thanks fer..." What, really? He wasn't going to thank a damned Death horseman for kicking his a**. "...the fight."

Soren looked at him appraisingly and nodded once. It was good that the colt had acknowledged the loss, in a simple spar it was foolish to fight against a stronger opponent to the point of dissipation. The fact that he knew enough to actually thank him for his time was a good sign.

"If you need educated again find me." He might have been startling himself when he said it but it was nothing major and he shrugged it off before unsummoning his blade and walking off.
