[EXAM]The Hills are Alive[Yin]

Cricket offered him a small smile. "Of course. It is best you understand the papers and all of the writing within them for clarity so when we have some time to spare we can go through them." she consented quite easily.

Yin really really wished he had that second pair of hands right now. The plant still firmly tucked into one hand and the other gripping both her pin and the papers as if somehow if he dropped them they would be lost for ever.

He was fidgety, one minute holding the papers close against his body as he tried to mentally wrap his mind around what was happening, what this meant, what it could change.

The next second he would have the papers out so that he could stare down at them, trying to read a few more words, figuring out bits and scraps.

The entire time he was ridiculously self-conscious. It was probably good he did not have a free hand, as he would have been tugging at his scarf and fidgeting entirely too much. Finally (or at least, it felt like it had been a fair amount of time), curiosity threatening to kill him, he just had to ask the question burning on his mind. "Why me? If you do not mind answering..."

"Why not you?" she countered simply.

"But I am no one special."  

[demon_pachabel]

"Why do you think that matters?"  

[ramenli]

"Because you deserve the best."

Obviously.

Cricket raised her brows slightly, smiled, but didn't say anything, just patting him on the head again. Whatever made him happy.  

[ramenli]

She patted him on the head, "argument" won. There was no way he could compete with that.

Mother knows best.

Cricket needed to finish the construction of that tower.


With that settled, for now, Cricket settled onto one of the benches on the station dock and sighed lightly, folding her hands into her lap to wait patiently.

The ride back was going to be interesting, at the very least.
