We have a 11 year old GSD, who has arthritis and hip dysplasia. He has a hard time getting up on smooth surfaces, and getting onto our low bed, but he still gets around well enough. He and our curr mutt play like he's four years old again. What's your idea of the moment when you know it's time to put him down?

Nash won't die until we see he cannot live the life he wants, when he can't get up at all without help. His quality of life is good, he's taken care of loved, he's part of our family. we can't afford surgery or medicine for him, but we do our best to make him comfortable. He's loved, pampered, and the sweetest old man I could ask for. He's been healthy all his life, aside from his hips.

But the question, when is it time to say when to you? It's sad to see him struggle occasionally. Our family really is firm on the phrase 'when there are no more good days'.
