I'm honestly curious myself, why don't you two talk? You guys are dating, why is it you can't find any time during school hours to talk? You guys don't even call each other which is strange in itself, why is all (or most) of your conversing over text? If I were your mom and knew all of that, on top of never meeting him, I don't think I'd let you over at his place either.
Really, you'll have to talk to him about this. He can't read your mind, he wont know what you want unless you tell him. Him being the man really doesn't have anything to do with it, if he can't meet you "all the way" then he can't, but if you really want him to, then you have to be willing to do it every now and then as well. Relationships should be equal, being the "man" doesn't mean he should be expected to do more, I mean really he's still just a kid. If you want him over, ask him if he wants to. He might not even realize he can go there if you've never invited him (have you?).
But yeah, basically you have to tell him all of this directly. If you want him to speak to you during school, let him know. If you want him to sit next to you (and he actually can, sometimes the teacher wont allow you to just move around like that), then tell him. If you want him to initiate more conversations, say so. He can't do any of this if he doesn't know that's what you want. I think that's what you have to work on first, your communication, because from the way it sounds you guys don't have much of that.
