The world is a different place now. Once so full of life and hope; adventures and mysteries. Young people eagerly awaited the day when they could choose their very first pokemon and set out on their journies to be become legends. That was a long time ago. In our world, people fight to survive; pokemon are wild and feral creatures; all of the regions have been destroyed, left in rotting ruins. The time of Trainers and their pokemon has passed.
What we know is that Scientists, Professors, and other people of interest were trying to figure out the mysteries surrounding pokemon. Their path was a noble one, but eventually, that path was led astray. Some scientists discovered the true power these wonderous creatures possessed, and they sought to harness that power for their own, albeit not for the good of mankind or pokemon. No, they wanted to become leaders, rulers. So they abused the power of pokemon. Eventually others would join these misbegotten lunatics, naming themselves the Shadow Sigma. As their numbers swelled, these people pushed forward into the world, and a war began.
Caught off guard, the people of the Regions suffered heavy casualties. Those that wouldn't join the Shadow Sigma were destroyed. So the war continued to escalate, neither side willing to surrender. Thousands of people and hundreds of thousands of pokemon died in the war, cities were destroyed and the very world was torn apart.
The Legendary Pokemon, which guarded our world were unable to stop the Shadow Sigma, and so they left our world, never to return. Finally the war ended, the SS having won victory. With their victory, they proclaimed a law that there would be no new trainers, except for the most loyal of SS members. Pokeballs were destroyed, pokemon hunted and tortured into obedience or killed for lack-there-of.
Thanks to the war, many species of pokemon were lost to the world forever. And those that haven't been captured by SS are dangerous, having lost all faith in the humans. How will the world heal from such a horrible catastophe? A new generation of Trainers is about to head into the world, they will reawaken the bonds of a Trainer and Pokemon. They will bring down the Shadow Sigma, and they will right the balance. Or they will die trying.
