I need help...
I am a noob/newb, dorky, little reserve kid who knows nothing about the real world and just got a single drop of taste of reality.
I don't know how to react or deal with others properly at my work area. It's my very first job. I work for quite an "elite" clothing line store. (well at least to me it is.) I was super lucky to get the job! I'm just seasonal but im still working there now just night shifts tho. (im not complaining cause I'm not good with my words with customers and maintaining and tagging is quite fun to me) So I don't know what my status is now. Am I Part timer or still a seasonal? I haven't been given the boot so I don't know. Plus i'm afraid to ask anything because I don't want to sound rude or ungrateful. I am not afraid of being wrong and not know anything but at the same time I don't always want to always ask them too many questions. I want to show them that I am capable.
I know I should be professional but at the same time I notice everyone here is so chilled and jokey. I feel quite intimidated, scared and I end up being really reserved. I really respect and look up to my coworkers! (they are beautiful, smart and just amazingly confident on what they do) I don't even know how to start a convo with them! I end up rambling and running away! Most of them are all adults. (ages from around 21 to 30) Im pretty much the youngest. I feel that I annoy them and i don't how I can get them to know how I feel and wish to have a fresh start over.
I still act like a "baby" more often than acting like a young adult. I don't act my own age people say Its either I sound like and old person or a baby but never in between. I don't know how nor know the limitations of acting my own age. I never really notice that my actions were still childish. I thought that's how I am when i'm being friendly. Now i'm afraid how to act toward others and I don't know what to do. The last thing I want to do is seem fake and deceiving.
Can anyone give me tips and their own opinions on what I can do:
1. to be more confident / confident 2. to start a convo 3. to improve 4. how to express myself using "I" messages and not making them feel threaten and not sound like a robot when I say it 5. ANYTHING A NOOB LIKE ME SHOULD KNOW.

First, be kind to yourself. If this is one of your first real jobs, of course you are going to feel a bit awkward! It's okay. smile
Second, identify someone you think you can trust, and get pointers from them.
Third, make sure your managers know that you'd like to stick with this job for the long term. And then, show them that they can count on you! Be on time, don't call in (unless you are at death's door), etc.
Finally, stay clear of workplace drama if at all possible. You could end up on the wrong side and that would make things very difficult for you.
I'm so glad you're excited about your job! Hang in there and you will be fine.

First, some words of affirmation: you were most likely hired on by the management because you seemed like someone who would fit in well with everyone else. Thus, be yourself.
If you are still in your first few weeks, ask questions for things that you don't know. That way, you will be better prepared later. I understand how you feel, considering that I too just started a new job.
