I was raised into this life, a life of servitude. There was no other choice for me, nor did I ever consider another choice. The collar upon my neck was forever the reminder of my status, to serve that of royal blood. The man whom I've watched every day since I could remember. My opinions did not matter, nor did my thoughts. If it affected the one I served then I act to that and only that. That was how it went, through the horrible times and the great times. There were many like me, some personal to that one person or to whomever roamed the castle. I've never been outside the castle walls to see what was really beyond, but I was capable to see pictures and maps in the library that I could visit every now and then. My reading only went so far, but it was hopeless for most books. The pictures with in the pages were wonderful, I hoped I could travel there some day when I was younger. He did to, but it seemed that duties came first. This life began to change though, my feelings toward the world I've grown accustomed to dramatically changed the day I came across that one person. I did not love him, nor did I know him, but he forever changed my primary desires and destined my life to treachery and death. This day I,their most trustworthy servant, fled from the castle grounds and from the kingdom itself, a sword in one hand and royal blood kidnapped holding my other hand.
I wasn't sure if it was a curse of magic that changed me, or something beyond any mortal's control. The dreams that came to me every night ever since I met the young prince never stopped, and the desire to fulfill the dream became more evident. Once I grasped the sword, swallowing all my shame, the images of what I thought only existed in books came before me. The jewel upon the sword glowed bright blue, the same time as the jewels upon my collar glowed and the same color even. There was something bigger than me that I knew of, but didn't know what. It was the fate of the young royal blood that I had to do this, though at best find the reason why I would even do this. To betray loved ones, it seemed inevitable. The hood cloaked over my body and the young boy in my hand, I told him to come with me that it was of importance. We took the sword, the one that didn't belong to the young boy or I. We fled at the dead of night, guards were easy to lie to in my position. I felt poison to break the trust I'll never gain back. The small prince and I walked along the grass lands to the forest slowly, there would be a hunt for just the two, but before we'd truly begin our journey I stuck the sword in the ground and commanded its glow once more. The boy and I watched as the images danced before us, the boy telling me "That's the city of Ankar, it's my dad's neighbor." the boy obviously more educated than I was. However this was happening, it would hold the answers to many questions. The boy tugged at my hand, pointing to the image of a tall figure that seemed to become more realistic and solid. I should of been frightened, but I didn't shake as the boy did. I felt in control, something I shouldn't of ever come to feel in this life. The tall figure gazed back at me, a male it seemed, and the images of Ankar drifted away as the male stood with crossed arms taller than the one I even served. He then spoke "There is a long way to go as it speaks, we should travel a ways ahead and find shelter Milady." though I raised and eye brow at the formality he was giving me, a slave no less. "You came from the sword, are you the one sending us this way?" , a pause he didn't seem to budge physically or emotionally "No, the magic of the sword guides me as it does you. I am to make sure you make it there with out harm Milady." and with that he turned on his heels to the forest to guide the way and watch for any predators. I followed , the boy's hand in mine.

History
The world as we know it is old, kingdoms have risen and fallen. History has been re-written and foretold by many. A world of man and beast, magic of all kinds that surround us on a daily basis. Some can wield it , rarely more powerful than others, and some have no grasp of this power. Where did it come from? Many try to find the solution and many theories are made, but in the end it's all for nothing in a fairytale. It's simply part of our world. In the kingdom of Ernar, neighboring Ankar, they have people of all kind. The caste are separated like many other kingdoms you'll find. Noble to merchants to peasants then the lowest of the slave caste. Many live in a common world, most worried over old wars that mean nothing to royalty now. We take our focus to what may be really happening, the secrets that are being hidden by the ones we look up to and despise all the same.
Story
We follow one woman that was born into the caste of the slaves. Born to serve and please no other than the heir to the kingdom of Ernar. With out a doubt she found her hatreds and pleasures of her existence, never questioning whatever order given as she was raised. She had friends come and go, servants like her that were dwindled into defiance and soon death. Over the years as she grew she became the most trusted that could get most jobs done as needed, and over those years a second son was born. She noticed how he resembled little of the one she served. She never came in contact with the small prince until he was of age. The moment she did, their eyes met and she felt a connection as if the boy was a medium to something more powerful. She couldn't make out the urges with in her own thoughts, she felt energized. Nights passed and she dreamt of the sword locked away with in the castle depths , a sword that was pleading for her service. The sword that belonged to the royal family, something she has only ever seen once. Over the months as she watched the small prince her urges couldn't be sufficed until she felt she knew what had to be done. The night she found her way down to the sword locked away, knowing she shouldn't be here. The crystal with in the hilt of the sword flashed a bright blue as so did the crystals in her collar, the images that the sword projected and the magic she could feel from it were intense. It portrayed her holding the sword with a grace and the boy next to her, but much older than he should be. He was a man, their hands were joined with a fierce look in their eyes and they marched out of sight. She returned that night, but it was only a week before she took the sword and the willing, young prince with her. Betraying the one she served , her existence was surely to be abolished wasn't it? As the sword brought fourth an unknown protector, their journey to Ankar would begin whilst their pursuers were sure to come. In the time given, the sword gave promise of why the servant would commit these sins.
Setting
A world of humans and beastly creatures. Technology is only advanced through weapon crafting(blacksmith) similar to the Iron Age and magic is the main use for most things. About 50% of the population can use magic for basic needs, 40% can not and 10% can wield it to a profound degree to be considered warlocks.
Characters
The Servant - Taken As told above for most of her story, a observant and silent type character who wields the sword every now and then. Born a slave and now on the run with the young prince, she follows the urges with in her given what she believes by the sword. She is a wanted criminal by the kingdom of Ernar and is recognized by her collar in which can't be removed and she refused to remove it. She guards the young prince as the guardian guards them both.
The Young Prince-Open(Male)
At age (10-13) he left from the castle willingly with his eldest brother's personal servant whom he's had rare contact with in the past. He is opposite of his brother in many ways, even in looks. A boy interested in books and was fated to a life of hard studies in many areas with no given freedom from the castle grounds much like his new companion. He went willingly one night as a chance to run away and see the world outside around him, happy to have two to guard him while he explores. He is unaware of the servant's intention or why she was running, knowing they will probably be caught eventually and she will be executed. He has no real personal connect or care towards the servant, but they share a common trait of wanting to travel (though the boy wishes to more than the servant) and the magic of the sword that the boy has never heard of in his studies. He is currently wanting to study the sword to figure what kind of magic or enchantments it has, what old magic it may hold, along with the entity that seems to be attached to the sword. He's just youth eager in the moments and is taking the opportunity to be rebellious to his own parents.
The Guardian-Open (Male)
A humanoid being of the sword that appeared before the young prince and the servant. Why now of all times and places? He doesn't know, and doesn't know much about the sword or its origins, even a name to call his own escapes him. He feels his own programming in the arts of combat and a slight affiliation for magic even. Very human like, but doesn't require any consumption ,only rest. The young prince and the servant aren't sure what to make of him, and he isn't sure what to make of himself either, but simply follow what he believes he exists for. That is to protect the wielder of the sword. Has a universal language and is very intelligent when it comes to logic.
The Warlock Apprentice - Open (Female)
One of three that the group comes into contact with. A girl (11-14) that grew up in an orphanage and found her talent with magic. Being put down a lot, she ran away to find a better life and to attend higher learning for the arts of Magic & Mana. With little to no funds to attend and lack of caste, her only options were to find decent adoptive care givers or do what most people did. She took jobs on the street, starting small of course, and studies magic on hand along with little thievery for the books that consists of spells and a better understanding of magic. Being young she found herself having harder times than those with not only experience, but looked to of had experience. On one of her quests she was to look for a man believed to of been lost in the woods, in which she ended up finding him in a large tree that was filled with mana. He was captured by a fierce beast, but still alive, and wasn't warned of the danger by her quest giver. With his help, they ended up defeating the monster and returning to town. It turned out the man she brought back with her had a debt to pay, in which she lent him some of her earned cash for the fact that he also saved her life, but for a deal as well. She was to tag along with him so they could earn and live together as a team, in which he agreed. She is now on travel with the Merchant and the Leader.
The Mercenary - Open (Male)
Was in an orphanage ,much like the warlock, for his younger years. Aspired to be a noble knight and live a better life. Has been a mercenary for most of his life, working jobs and traveling to where the money is. Each kingdom he comes across he attempts his best with the knights and to build a reputation, but it seems all for not. He met the leader awhile back, someone who seems to know a lot and easily makes friends with others. He managed to team up with her after much stalking and persuasion , and believed that they could take on most things. When time came that a man was hunting him down to claim a debt, it was just him in this mess so he went to try and pay him back by taking up a considerable dangerous quest. His partner wouldn't go though, so he went alone and ended up running into a giant, flying beast that kept him in it's nest for two days. He was luckily rescued by a small girl and returned to his leader (actually returned him to the man whom he owed money to) whom didn't seem to have much concern, but at least a joke for his misfortune. Now the small girl has joined their team. He has no affinity for magic.
The Leader-Open (Female)
Is considered the leader by the mercenary and the small warlock, and soon others that come along as the story will progress. She was raised by some merchants and has traveled here and there, mostly just a few cities, for a lot of her life and lived a pretty decent one for her child hood. After her father died in an accident involving misuse of magic, her mother remarried and the family didn't feel much the same. She independently went off on her own to find her way into the world, a desire to travel and at first she figured merchant, but with out her father's teachings she wasn't able to gain much of a reputation or get started. After a few apprenticeships and traveling she ended up becoming a trained swords man and marksman, doing various chores and traveling through the world. Her reputation has slowly grown and she's been offered some good permanent jobs, but continues with the life she has as it satisfies her from any dull aspects of life. When the mercenary came into her life wanting to travel with her, at first she was skeptical, but then amused. After his desperate persistence she eventually let him join her, gaining a fondness over him though only finding out that he was only interested in her for her skills and reputation. He attempted to make her go on a mission in which she tried to explain to him that with out magic they'd end up most likely dead so the quest wasn't worth it. He went anyway. Irked and angered , feeling he only wanted to use her, she waited until he finally returned with a small child and in bad shape. Feeling guilty? Slightly, but he deserved it she believes and felt more sorry for the child that seemed to go dragged into it. To her surprise though, the child was a very skilled warlock it seemed and even wanted to join them. With the girls skills they could really take on more difficult quests, though she isn't aware that the small warlock isn't exactly a master. The leader has a slight affinity for magic, but doesn't really care to use it.
