Hi. I have always wanted a Japanese theme/style room.

I like the simplicity of the Japanese way.

Thing is I'm a clutter chic. I think it'll help me with my clutter thing because I am also a person who likes to stick to the theme.
So basically I was wondering. Where would I start when buying the stuff? And also I'm very creative and artistic so diy links maybe?

Would subscribe if I could
Personally, mine's a mess as well, and it would be nice to have something minimal
So far, I have a wall scroll that I got at Japan in Disney World. Try looking around for stuff like that first

Ah, I've fantasized with have an apartment designed in the traditional Japanese style for many years. Even designed floorplans and furniture. xD
Until I started to watch Asian horror flicks. Anyway...

If you plan on redecorating your room I think you should start by planning and sketching where you want to distribute the bare necessities (bed, dresser, lamp) before you buy scrolls or any other wall decorations.
Do you plan on changing your dresser/wardrobe?

I don't have my own home yet so I just wanted to get some general ideas. Thank you!~

I haven't looked at many Japanese styled rooms or houses so i'm not sure how helpful I can be but you said that you wanted storage ideas specifically so here's what I've got based on what I've seen. a lot of interiors styled by the traditional Japanese homes have very simple means of storage. the shelves in the closets are basic on the floor and then on the top as well as a couple of more with a larger space in the middle to either stack a couple of boxes or hang up clothes. around the room they have basically the same stuff you'd see in any other room, a few units with drawers, bookshelves, desks, and so on.

I do agree with vindemiam too though, if you're redecorating or even rearranging your room ever it's good to sketch out a basic idea about where everything basic will be that you need, how much space it takes up an so on. if you want to get new furniture as well, i'd go to a few different stores in your free time to see what they have that looks appealing to you and bring a pen and paper to write down what it is, the price, and then compare it against the other stores too. added decorations like scrolls, lanterns, plants, and other things will be easier to not only find spots for but to see what you want and how after all of that is done

I hope at least something in all of that was helpful and that you get your room to work out!

That's why I mentioned "room". And also why I asked about your dresser.
I know that many times we have to make do with what we have at hand until we can afford something closer to what we need. ^u^

For maximizing room space I use plastic drawers in my closet. And to minimize clutter I avoid shelves of any kind. xD
Excepts for books.
I also keep all of my crafting materials in plastic drawers in the closet.

Paper lanterns!
I'd help you search for DIY tutorials on how to make them but I'm at work and using my phone.
I just wanted to suggest a strand of lights with DIY paper lanterns.
I think they'd look darling in a Japanese style room.
Plus they give a certain degree of romance with its dim lighting. OuO
