NAME OF CLASS: First Aid 101
PROFESSOR NAME: Professor Cricket

General information: A general overview on basic illnesses a student might run into, as well as symptoms and quick fixes to things like breaks and deep cuts while on the go!

Each student is given a dummy to work on, though they may choose to partner up in fixing it.

Mechanics:
Roll 1 20-sided dice, what you roll is what your student gets to work with...

Dice Rolls and What they Mean!
1-4 - Broken Bone
4-8 - Fever
9-12 - Heat Stroke
13-16 - Hypothermia
17-20 - Lack of Bodily Function (such as breathing, pulse, etc) - this is unnaturally so.

After this, please roll 4, 4-sided Dice. Take into account their total and any repeating numbers

Total Results and their Meaning

1-6 - You do a rather poor job patching up your dummy, you might not want to try and heal anybody anytime soon!
7-12 - You do an average job, nothing extraordinary, but passable!
12-16 - Extra good work! Your student can now heal surface wounds!, but not repair HP! This means things like cuts and bleeding that might hinder another character can be patched up!

What Repeating Numbers Mean

No Repeating Numbers - You used just the right amount of supplies, good for you! Not wasteful at all.
Repeating 1s or 2s - You didn't use enough supplies, that's rather lazy and Cricket obviously disapproves of it.
Repeating 3s or 4s - You used too many supplies and that's wasteful! Naughty! Cricket might make you earn your supply rights back in a future class!

If you work as a group, split up the dice between yourselves as evenly as possible. So if you're paired up, each person rolls a 10 sided dice and you add up the results to get your dummy!

Then you split up your 4 sided dice to work on fixing it up!

Bonus Mechanics:
For every 3 times you attempt this course, your student may add +1 to their 4d4 dice roll's total to improve how well they patched up the dummy.

YOU LOSE/FINISH THIS CLASS WHEN...

- You are finished rolling both sets of dice and rping out the results. That means you have to make ANOTHER rp to try again!

It had been a long time since Jove had attended a class like this one. With recent events things had been quiet on the mentoring front, so the little ghost decided he needed some extra practice.

When given his dummy, the pup looked it over. In some ways he preferred this sort of patient, silent, just like him. He didn't have to spare any words asking what was wrong. Minipets were like that, they spoke in body language like himself, so they were probably easier to treat than... unconscious creeple. Sometimes Jove still couldn't tell the difference between unconscious and simply sleeping, and had woken his poor sleeping brother up more than once after terrible things happened to them, just to make sure.

It wasn't long before Jove realized the dummy wasn't breathing. It could merely have been something like himself, something without life that didn't need any breath, but he knew better. All the little dummies in the past had sat there, with their empty eyes, breathing away as they awaited their fate. But... what did one do for someone who wasn't breathing?

Jove wracked his mind trying to come up with the solution to the dummy's problem. He glanced at the supplies, then at the other dummies, and finally back at his own with his brows furrowed deeply. You couldn't simply bandage up a lack of breath!

He tried to think of reasons why someone would stop breathing. Other than death. He took his little tendrils and prodded the dummy's torso. It felt intact, no weird holes or abnormalities. The pup then put his ear to the dummy's chest.

There... There was a weird little sound. Weird like something... like that one time he had tried to suck eyescream through a straw before realizing it was too thick. Ren had laughed at him, but the memory was enough to get Jove thinking. He prodded at the dummy's face with his tendrils, and reached into it's mouth. With a frown he sent the little tendrils down into it's throat... It was already not breathing so there was no way to choke it he figured.

And then, there it was.

Something was stuck in the dummy's throat. A little glob of something. It was squishy, but the pup couldn't tell more than that, not before he yanked it out, and the dummy began breathing normally again. With his 'patient' no longer in crisis, Jove examined the chunk of stuff he had retrieved from his dummy's throat. And his nose wrinkled in disgust as he realized it was a piece of stuffing and fabric. Probably from another dummy.

Ew.

Today's dummy was an odd colour. The pup stared at it, walked a circle around it. But the moment he put his hand on it he understood what was wrong. This dummy was way too hot.

Jove had been sick himself not too long ago. For the first time he had actually had a temperature of his own, rather than simply taking on the temperature of the environment around him. He had stuck himself in the bathroom, curled up on the cool tile until Demi and Ren had found him, but even when they found him they wanted to get his fever to come down. So that's what Jove figured he had to do for this poor dummy.

Jove looked at all his supplies. Bandages would make him too warm. Alcohol would... maybe help? He dumped some alcohol on the dummy, and it simply evaporated.

The pup frowned. He went back to his supplies. More bandages. More alcohol, some alcohol swabs. That wouldn't help at all. What he really wanted was something wet, and cool... His fluffy ears perked, and then he grabbed some bandages, and ran over to the sink in the classroom to wet them all down with cold water from the faucet. Wasn't that what Ren and Demi had done? Running back over to the dummy, he put it on the dummy's forehead.

And waited.

It didn't seem to be doing much, so he ran the makeshift cloth back to the sink, wrung it out, wet it with new cold water, and ran back to put the cloth on the dummy's chest. Eventually, after many back and forth trips to the sink, the dummy was sufficiently restored to it's proper temperature. Surely there had to be a better way... Jove decided to talk to Ren about it next time.

Something was definitely wrong with today's dummy.

Jove took a good long look at it. He walked around it in a circle. He put one hand against it's forehead to check it's temperature, but that all seemed fine. Until he noticed there was one limb grossly askew.

The pup frowned.

He tried to move his own arm to such a position, but it was simply impossible due to the solid structure buried under his ghostly skin and sparse muscle. The bone had to be broken for the dummy to rest like that.

Using his FEAR manipulation, Jove delicately investigated the break, sensing the source of inflammation and tender tissues. Then with a look of concentration, involving ears flattened back and tongue protruding comically, he eased the break back into the correct position.

Yet it was so delicate... If it moved, it would come apart all over again. The pup couldn't let that happen, so he wrapped it in gauze. And when that ceased to provide the necessary stability, it occurred to him to use the plaster casting strips he had seen in the cupboard earlier.

Tada~

Waiting for the plaster to dry, he tentatively poked the dummy with his FEAR again, to see that the aligned break had stayed aligned. Then with a satisfactory nod, he gave the dummy a pat on the head. Good job, dummy, good job.

Following the previous class, Jove was much quicker to pick up on the poor dummy's ailment. It was the other arm this time, bent at an angle that just looked painful. Jove briefly wondered about creatures possessing tentacle arms, whether they had bones to break. From the few tentacles he had seen they were rubbery like elastic bands and probably couldn't break...

Why didn't this poor dummy just give up and have tentacle arms instead?

Jove was feeling a little bit more confident with his choice of remedy. He gave this dummy the same treatment as the last, but didn't put quite as much plaster casting on. It might be a little thin...

The pup debated putting some more on. If it was a boil dummy, it would definitely need more plaster casting. It would want to play bruteball or casketball, or run around and bang it off things. But if it was a ghoul dummy... It would be okay having tea parties?

The pup's indecision lasted until the end of class.

This time his dummy's ailment was a mystery.

Jove couldn't find any unusual body temperature, or broken bones, the dummy was just lying there. Still. Peaceful. Was his dummy broken?

He poked it in the side, and it let out an unusual wheezy noise. It sounded like Ren that one time he thought he was dying and just had a stuffed up nose. Living things could get really upset when they couldn't breathe...

Wait. All the other times his dummy had done that, inhaling and exhaling like living things did. This dummy was quiet. Too quiet...

Jove felt a momentary surge of panic. What was going on? Was his dummy going to die because it wasn't breathing? Why wasn't it breathing?

The pup couldn't see anything physically wrong, the chest was fine and the throat looked intact, it must have been something inside. There was no air coming in or out when he leaned close to listen. So without any further thought, the pup wiggled his ghostly tendrils into the dummy's nose and mouth. It would have been a bad idea if the dummy had not already been not breathing.

A little ways into the throat, Jove felt something, a little piece of something that didn't feel like it belonged there. He wasn't sure, because he didn't exactly have functioning lungs himself, but he had studied Physiology for the Practical Phantom! He was pretty sure there weren't supposed to be lumps like that in there...

He grabbed it, and gave it a sharp tug out. And the moment the little piece of undeterminable meat product was extracted, the dummy began to breathe again.

Mission accomplished.

This time Jove was not sure what was wrong with his dummy. It took a very good look before he realized there was a huge amount of swelling in the dummy's foot. A little bit more investigation led him to realize that there was indeed a broken bone hidden in that foot.

Jove didn't even know the bones in feet were long enough to break!

Jove had to do some looking through textbooks to figure out how to fix such a small bone. The longer bones were easier... This one was just a fracture? And how did you patch up something the dummy was just going to walk on? Wouldn't it just get worse?

The pup spent so much time trying to make sure he was doing the job right, referencing textbooks and puzzling over it all, that he barely had time to put a quick cast on before class was over.
