ｎｅｗ_ｈｏｒｉｚｏｎｓ is a roleplay about the lives of the students attending Shimosuke Academy. Located in the lesser populated city of Ishikawa, Japan, the academy was the first to accommodate the growing numbers young adults born with the X-gene, the mysterious strain of DNA which gave humans non-human capabilities. Founded by Miki Kuroda, one of the world's first mutants' rights activist, the academy’s main goal is to safely educate gifted children as well as shelter their abilities from the outside world. Since 1918, girls have been enrolling from across the world in order to learn more themselves while hoping that the world will soon stop fearing mutantkind.
The lively city of Ishikawa is known for its colorful festiveness and is called Mutant's Paradise for its high concentration of diverse mutants dwelling there. Once a year, a Mutant Pride parade and festival is hosted in the heart of the city, thus making it a popular tourist city.
