![User Image](https://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr336/loljunkie/theydontactuallyknoweachother_zps51c640cb.jpg) The bike rack stood surprisingly unharmed, and even more surprisingly without zombies nearby, near the campus gates. Sofia walked over to it, half expecting a booby trap of some sort. But there was none. Sofia's bike stood exactly where she had placed it, and it was even still locked. There were no bloody surprises in the basket, and no blood spatter on the rest of the bike either. She half wondered, what had she been expecting anyway? Don't answer that... Sofia unlocked the bike. Still no zombies. Were they all just inside, maybe? And wasn't that kind of weird, she thought morbidly, for them to only be inside? Maybe it was for the best, considering she had no weapon... Well, best for her. Not for any of the others. Oh, poor Elizabeth! Sofia walked the bike past the campus gates. There were no teachers to scold her for leaving school early, but why would they reprimand a bike that was randomly leaving on its own? Sofia, of course, was still invisible. It wasn't something that wore off, it only would when she decided she wanted to be visible again. That probably wouldn't be for a while, though. Considering the circumstances.
The bike and the invisible Sofia walked past the big yellow school buses, the school buses that remained unharmed. Wasn't that weird? Well, zombies probably wouldn't have any interest in unoccupied buses, actually. They were more interested in live subjects, Sofia supposed. Speaking of... There was a movement under one of the school buses. Sofia stopped in her tracks, startled. What had that been? The kickstand on the bike went down, because somehow she knew this was not a zombie. Or, at least, she thought so. If this was, she was to wind up like poor Elizabeth. She wasn't ready to meet Shakespeare yet. She was still too young. Brains and internal organs sounded like a gross diet, anyway. Still unsure whether or not to make herself visible again, Sofia looked down under the bus. Maybe it was stupid, yeah. But hadn't she done stupider things? Yeah, plenty of times. More times than she would like to admit. Here was another tally mark: bending down to look under a school bus when the visitor could just as easily be a zombie who had somehow... Why, it was a cat. Sofia, a little confused, initially thought of Monstro back at home: the moody, old Maine Coon who had to be lifted up onto his favorite perches. This cat, however, looked to be short haired and a bit smaller than Monstro; age was hard to determine by appearance alone. Hi, she said quietly to the cat, still thinking about Monstro. Being talked to either made him purr with contentment or would make him lash his tail angrily as though to say be quiet, already. Really, it depended on the day. Was this cat somebody's pet, she wondered, or maybe a student who had the ability to shape shift? She stayed far away enough from the claws and the teeth as to not be attacked if the cat got startled or felt threatened, but couldn't deny that she was intrigued...

Sofia smiled, even though that wouldn't show, and gently stroked the cat as he rubbed up against her. It was nice to have such lovely company, she thought. Much better than the alternative, at least. She kind of wanted to ask the cat his name, although she didn't even know that he could communicate with humans in the first place and that she had only known him for a minute now. Almost cautiously, she brought up her still invisible hand and scratched the cat behind the ears. She was sure he could sense her presence and there was no doubt he could feel her touch. Was he somebody's pet, Sofia wondered, or maybe a shape shifter? She kind of wanted to ask him, even if in the back of her mind she acknowledged that his answer might be in the form of a meow. At least he seemed friendly, not at all like the bloodthirsty zombies. Maybe the cat thought the same of her (hopefully, at least)?

(I've been kitty kissed a few times. whee It's so cute.)
Sofia, acknowledging that even though the cat could sense her presence and feel her stroking him, knew that he couldn't actually see her. She was still a little bit wary, though, about turning herself visible again because there was really no way of knowing if or when the zombies would decide to join them. So far, it had only been her invisibility and the ability to be completely silent along with it that had saved her. And how far had the zombie infection spread, anyway? If somebody were to come outside, and for some reason there was almost nobody, then what if the zombies followed? Well, at least she had a means of escape. She looked over at her bike for a moment, and then back at Icarus. Then, she stood up. I'm not going to leave you. Zombies don't like the taste of cat, right? Too much fur. I still don't even know his name. She started at her toes, and up to the top of her red-haired head. Here were the sneakers and the jeans she wore, here was the off-white blouse (and yes, what a terrible color it was to wear today) above it. Sofia was visible again, even though she was still feeling a little wary about it. It was just a habit of hers to act before she thought, after all, when really it should have been the other way around. But what harm could a friendly cat do to her? It was the zombies she was more worried about. She bent down again to Icarus' level, wondering where he lived- Sofia herself was thinking about going home and sincerely hoping the zombie infection wasn't centered anywhere around there.

Icarus looked at Sophia, and he thought she should have thought before acting, but still, he got in her face as he purred, and then, he opened his mouth to kitty kiss her nose, but not let go.
Icarus had a home and an owner, who was safe from all of this, and Icarus loved him. He travelled a great distance from his home because his owner hatched a plan, but he needed help. Icarus was the one who went to find help, and his journey brought him to the school.
