[1v1] Within Shadows [Sparrow v Shun]

Sparrow had slipped sideways, but Shun's fierce determination was almost tangible, and Sparrow felt the blade dig into his leg, the other cutting a line across his chest. Wincing a little, he staggered backwards, the scythe keeping him vertical as he held onto it, pulling himself back upwards.

Gritting his teeth a little, Sparrow held onto the handle of the scythe and leapt forward, the weapon swinging in a wide arc back towards the other reaper.

Shun couldn't move out of the way quickly enough, taking another solid hit. Grunting, he moved off to the side before suddenly vanishing, leaving behind several shadowy wisps in his wake. He soon reappeared behind Sparrow, striking once before shadowstepping again to his front and attacking again. He continued to pop around at various angles to strike repeatedly.

When he landed a few feet away, he crouched down, and his daggers soon took on a rather shadowed appearance.

It was time.

Shun was now moving far more quickly than before. He quickly closed the gap between himself and the other reaper, aiming to bury both blades into his form.

Well he certainly hadn't expected that.

As Shun rushed towards him, Sparrow took a heavy swing outwards with the scythe, intending to block the oncoming reaper, but the shadowstep meant that he was caught off guard, and soon he was spinning around, trying to keep up with the other reaper.

Something slammed into his side - another dagger - and Sparrow let out a hiss of pain, dropping down to one knee. He was losing his grip on his scythe, but the shadows stretched out in front of him, Sparrow digging his fingers into it and pulling some upwards to keep himself vertical.

And then there was Shun again and -

Both blades sank into his chest, Sparrow collapsing backwards entirely. His scythe dissipated in a swirl of black smoke and he landed with a clatter on the ground, entirely out of breath. For a few moments he lay there, breathing heavily, his head spinning unpleasantly.

"Well, I asked for it," he said, pushing himself up on his elbows, a weak smile on his face. "You're quite the fighter, I must say."

The shadowy smoke that his daggers were giving off a moment ago soon faded away, leaving them looking as they normally do. He watched Sparrow fall back, then straightened up a little. Shun closed his good eye and let out a breath as he relaxed himself. After he had taken that moment, he glanced down at his side where the other reaper had cut into him good. It wasn't really anything too serious, but he was going to need to get that patched up.

Hearing the other speak, his attention shifted back to the downed reaper. He just shrugged a bit silently at Sparrow's comment, then stepped closer. Shun dismissed his weapons, then held a hand out to offer a way back to his feet. He had defeated him soundly, but the other did manage to land a number of solid blows onto himself. There was some respect there, lies about being a new kid or not.

Sparrow was still looking as bright as ever. "Not too much of a talker, are you?" he said lightly. He glanced at the hand offered to him and, after a second's hesitation, reached up to grasp it, wincing as he got to his feet.

His entire body ached painfully. Sparrow put a hand against his torso, a jolt of pain startling through him.

"Only back a short while and already making messes," he said with a laugh. He stuck out his hand towards Shun, a small smile playing on the edges of his lips as though he were attempting to hide it.

"Thanks for the fight."

"Not particularly," Shun replied with another shrug. Once Sparrow was up, he took a step back and placed his hands into his pockets. He didn't feel particularly obliged to help him any further than that. His own expression didn't really change as he looked the other over briefly.

Looking down at the outstretched hand, he decided to not shake this time around. He never really understood the purpose of the handshake. Instead, he merely nodded to Sparrow, then turned and moved on out of the gym to get his wounds tended to.
